Default Lemoyne star

Has anyone done the Lemoyne Star and what template/ruler did you use. Deb Tucker has one and then Jan Krantz has a different ruler and puts them together a bit different. I love the lemoyne star. Anxious to hear your response or advice.
Thanks,
Evelyn in Sequim WA

I don't use templates for a lemoyne star. I cut strips, and use the 45 degree line on my rulr to cut the diamonds.

I've done the same as kristakz, although I do have a 90 degree ruler (with 45 degree angles)

I would not have a clue how to do that nor how to assemble them. I have never made the star before. I have only used templates and you tube videos. Thanks though. Will keep looking.

You can't get a true lemoyne star with HST's, unfortunately.

Another option is a template set I own. Marti Michele's Perfect Patchwork Templates, Set H (Large Hexagon plus) comes with 2 diamond templates, One for 1.5 " diamonds and one for 3" diamonds. You could get 2 different sizes of lemoyne stars from those - but you'd have to work out the setting blocks yourself, so maybe that's not such a great idea. oops.

But she has set E - lemoyne stars: http://www.frommarti.com/eandf.shtml
Maybe that's what you need.

Really wish I could edit that last post. Hexagons and the associated diamonds don't make Lemoyne stars, of course.

But the link is right - she has a lemoyne star template set that would do what you are looking for.

I have watched a video of Deb Tucker using her templates to make the Lemoyne Star. I love how it looks but, I have enough patterns I want to make.

I paper pieced it and it came out perfect. I think it was in a book by Alex Anderson from the library.

The quickest way there is. Nothing special required, just the 45 degree on my regular ruler.. Starch your material twice on the back. It will keep the bias edges under control.

Looking forward to see your project as it progresses.
peace
