I was just on Liberty's website and looked at one of the same fabrics that Fabric.com offers. Bearing in mind that at Liberty you purchase a meter, not a yard (meter to yard conversion is 1.094) ... Liberty's meter price was 19.95 BS and Fabric.com yard price was $28.98. Current exchange rates would put Liberty's 19.95 BS at $32.46 ... so it looks like a good price. Better than I could get if I went to Liberty!!

(BS = British Sterling. I dont' have the Lb symbol on my PC and am too lazy to look up the alt key for it.)

I think there is alot of misunderstanding about the fabrics from Liberty. While there are some other weaves the most popular are lawn. Lawn is a high thread count cotton that is carded to make an extremely smooth even thread. It feels as silky without the sizing as it does with. LQS fabrics are premium cotton as is cotton lawn. So Lawn is another type of premium cotton.

The items that Target had in their Liberty line were not Tana Lawns which makes a huge difference. Target was primarily showcasing the prints not the fabric.

I like working with the Tana Lawn and I prefer to working with voile. Much easier to handle, although I do believe that it should have a good amount of quilting especially if it is going to be an item that gets alot of use.

What is the exchange rate on the day that you buy? LBs are more than a dollar.

Love, love, love Liberty both the material and the shop!! I am waiting for someone to go down to London to send me some but for dresses or blouses not quilting. The feel is just sooooo good, Tana lawn, you can't beat it!! Exchange rate today is : $1.00=62pence (doesn't make sense to me that way round I always convert dollars back to English pounds, lol).

I have been to Liberty's in London and Harrods and Bentall's and they are all lovely stores but it is true you are paying for the name of the store along with a high quality product.

Liberty cottons have always been expensive. No surprize there. That's why i jumped when I came across a line deep discounted. It feels like silk and wears like iron!!
