Odd timing. As I needed one just yesterday. I looked around the house and found a piece of glass from a broken picture frame. Then a couple of clear plastic food savers in the kitchen that I put under either end of the glass and a mini lightbulb on a switch that goes in Christmas decorations and presto-chango, I have a light box. Works best when the room is not brightly lit.

I checked our Walmart and didn't find this and also checked the other store we have and it wasn't there. I checked Walmart online and didn't find it. I finally found one on Amazon for $15.00 + postage made it around $21 and am waiting for it to arrive.

Bellaboo posted this last year and I ran to Walmart toy department to get mine. Unless you need a big light box, this has a surface about 8x11 and I LOVE it. I use it for tracing Redwork patterns onto muslin. I have a design on white paper in sharpie with a thick piece of muslin on top and I think you can see how great it works. For $25 in Canada, it works perfect!

I would love to have this thin, portable LED lightbox

I have this one:

I was lucky. I bought a craft light box in Michael 's several years ago. With my 40 per cent off coupon, I think I paid around $14.00. I don't use it too much, but it's great to have when I appliqué patterns to trace. You might check them out.

I have a light box, but sometime if I have to trace something small, I use a window, works great!

I like to trace the "other" side of paper piece patterns. Windows work fine - - for a while - - - and while the sun shines.
Someone gave directions for making a light box from a stool turned upside down. If the "legs" are flat pieces of board with a V cut out of them, lay a florescent light stick across that in the V, and lay a piece of glass on top. The glass should be covered with a piece of white paper to cut down the glare. You could put that in your lap. |
Turn on the light in the oven & the glass door works in a pinch .... the window on a bright day works too

Thank you for all the GREAT suggestions!
