Two treatments for the same quilt, one using a light background, another the dark background. Which do you prefer?

Dark is DRAMA!
I think I like the light.
They are both beautiful, but I guess it would depend on where the quilt would be used...
Make one of each! They're both gorgeous!
I love them both. Sorry not much help.
I guess it depends on if your going for a calm quilt or a drama quilt. ;-) |
Definitely the dark!!!
Wow - what a difference the change in background makes.
I think I like the light one better - but both are great! |
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I like the dark the best. (I usually lean towards lighter brighter colors)
I love the dark best. I love statement quilts!! They are more memorable.
Both are beautiful but I would go for the light on this one. And, I love the fabric!!
Oh - what a decision - they are both nice. I think I have to go with the "dark" just a fraction more !!
It just might be your pictures but...I think the beautiful colors POP more on the lighter fabric. But I love the dark background too.
Hard choice but I like the light just a tiny bit better. |
I like both - I vote for one of each..
BOTH!!! oh my goodness- 2 totally different looks- both dramatic- i love them both- it would depend on who the quilt was going to- the purpose- to decide which way to go- but i would want one of each!
i prefer the light background
For impact, I prefer the dark background. It looks like a stainglass window. If I was going to put it on my bed, I think the light background. There isn't a lot of light in my bedroom and the dark one would look too dark in there.
They both look good! But, the black makes it POP! :)
Make a two-sided quilt dark on one side & light on the other.
I like both. |
I love working w black, but this time I think they are equally attractive. Just a matter of what look you're going for or where it'll be used.
Dark!
I love them both, the light draws more attention to the flowers, which I assume is what you want to do. On the other hand the black is mystery draws away from the flowers
With those particular prints, I like the dark.
Dark!!
Dark...mostly because I love working with black, but also because, to me, all the seams in the light background distract from the visual impact.
oh golly. I like them both. black speaks to me more but both are lovely.
the black is beautiful.
hard to decide - they both are great. If I had to choose, I would choose the lighter one.
The light background is pretty, but the dark makes it POP!
I like the light background. Really surprised that I do because my choice is almost always the darker color. I think the light fabric helps balance the quilt more and is more restful to look at. IMHO Either way, it's beautiful!

Dark for me. The light just seems more washed out.
But I agree that it depends on what it will be used for! |
DARK MAKES it stand out

I am surprised at how many liked the light background. I like both, but I think the dark really makes the red flowers stand out. That surprises me too, since I usually don't go for the black background. Go figure.

Before I even saw the pictures I thought to myself that I would prefer the dark, because generally I like strong contrast
BUT...after seeing both pictures, I would choose the light background. I think the strong reds look better on the light background, and don't need the black for drama. |
The dark makes the colors really pop out. If that is what you want go with the dark. If you want a more subdued effect go with the light. They are both beautiful - you will win either way.
I like the light better
