I have an Ott Light and love it. It is just like sitting in daylight.

I have 3 or 4 Ott lights. You sure get true color from the,. I love them. One is a portable that I found at an estate sale for $3.00, I couldn't believe it. I take it to class with me.

I have 2 OTT lights. One for handsewing and one by my machine. Love them both

We got rid of the ceiling fan/4 light kit, took 60W bulbs, I bought a 3 light fixture that takes 100W bulbs and I could operate under it, if I knew how to. I use reveal bulbs and they do put off the heat. This fixture is over the dining table, where I quilt and sometimes piece.
In sewing room I have florescent lights, works very well. |
In addition to providing a lot of good natural light, it's great when I want to make sure my thread matches the fabric I'm putting it on, as well as matching fabrics when they are not from the same manufacturer.

I have the Ott light and it's great. I've never used the other one so I can't compare the two.

I just purchased my first Ott Light and I love it! Will definitely purchase another one.

I love my Ott light.

I use my Ott light every time I sew or craft. My eyesight is getting weaker and I find that I need a bright light to do any close hand or machine work. It really lessens the eye strain.
Be sure to shop around - I think there was a thread here discussing pricing and different places to buy a 'true color/daylight' lamp that is the same as the Ott light. |
This may not fit 100 % in this topic, but I have problems figuring out how to position my lights. Right now I have a desk lamp with a flexible arm that is attached to the table to the right of my machine, and it's lamp part is between me and the sewing machine. If I position it so that is shines directly on my needle area, it's in the way of my head and covers up buttons on the machine that I need. I tried mounting it on different sides of the table, it's always in the way somehow. Do any of you have something like a spotlight coming from the ceiling? Where are your lights positioned? Thanks!
