If you are using the pattern from Alphabet Soup, you need to follow the directions EXACTLY, in order to make the logo look like it is supposed to. Usually, in quilting, little mistakes are not noticeable, but with this particular pattern, "little" mistakes become glaring. Ask me how I know, lol.
Sorry, but at least you realized it before you sewed all the blocks completely, so it will mean a bit less ripping, |
Please let us know what you decide to do. Don't leave us hanging. I would rip. N

I finished 5 blocks, one correctly and 4 incorrect, then mixed them up and showed them to several people to see if they could find the good one.....nobody could tell the difference without studying the blocks, and a couple couldn't see any wrong at all....so I have decided to just continue with the blocks as is, adding the rest of the red logs....if the blocks were constructed with light logs and dark logs, I would never question about fixing them, but since they are all red logs surrounding a cream center, the error is hard to see...I will post a pic when done.

If it were me, I'd rip it out and fix it. Every time I would look at it, I'd be thinking about how I screwed it up. It won't take that long to fix them compared to how long you'll wish you had.
|
It will make you happier if you just go ahead and rip! Taking out stitches is just one more part of necessary skills we all need. Don't let it upset you. Considering how long a quilt is used, another hour or two will mean nothing.
Rip it!! |
I wouldn't rip 'em, I'd make new blocks, and use the discarded ones on the back, maybe surrounding the label.
I can sew a lot faster than I can rip. |

I have only done one log cabin in my many yrs of quilting...I do not like doing it...but I do remember the hint that you sew on the strips counterclockwise.......and something about if you sew over more than one seam when urging on another log, something is amiss. before I do any piecing, I make one sample block and pin it onto a small tabletop flannel covered board right in front of my work area........so I can check as I go....-- propped up at eye level....has saved much frog stitching ( rip-it,rip-it)....

Can you live with this mistake? You know we have all made errors in our path as quilters. If it were me I would follow the pattern and do some unsewing. I love the log cabin block and without fixing it you are not making a log cabin block. Now of course this is my own humble opinion.

I think if it were me I would get the old seam ripper out and do it right.
