I just realized something---------------------this is not a question about a real log cabin. In the first picture, there is NO indication the quilter even intends to use lights and darks, only the reds with the center as cream.

But the problem is that I addressed the issue of block construction (all reds around a cream center) as soon as I realized my error in not providing that info in original post. That particular response was at the bottom of the first page. That tells me that nobody reads any further than the original post before giving a response. There is usually a treasure trove of info in the following posts, so I try to read them all if the original post has grabbed my interest.

If it was me, I could live with it and would not unsew. But I think making a correct one and having it side by side was the best way to make the decision.

You are right, Buckeye Rose, usually no one starts from the original post and reads through the other posts. I don't understand why our members do this. I read over and over again the same recommendations for a situation. Just don't get it!

I am one who does not mind taking apart. The one on the rt seems easy to turn around and you can then add your fifth piece.

I did the same thing. made pot holders out of my oops ones and restarted.

I would rip the wrong ones out. It really won't take that long and you will be very happy you did.

If you haven't given up by now - I think this is fixable. Attach log 5 as you are. But put log 6 on the bottom, rather than the top (so it touches the cream square. Then, put log 7 where it belongs, log 8 on the bottom, and continue in pattern. That should center the cream square, and be almost unnoticeable.

I have been concerned with this for a long time. I think if we want to respond to a post, we should first read all the other responses (even if there are 356 of them). Most times I have found that someone else has answered the original answer very satisfactorily, so I needn't bother adding my two cents worth. I also learn a lot from other's answers.
