I think that quilting design can work in either direction. Maybe she was trying to balance out the horizontal movement of the piecing?? Her work looks good and the price is great, I would just be sure to specify clearly what you want next time.

When taking your quilt top to LA quilter, if it makes a difference in the direction you want it quilted, make sure you mark the top of your quilt "top". You got a steal at $27.00 especially if she provided batting and thread.

I think it is fine. I don't think it made any difference. It is a great quilt.

27 dollars it has to be costing her to do this!!! I hope she doesn't use this forum!

When I get quilts to be done that there is no obvious top or bottom, I ask the customer to mark with a safety pin so I know what is the top. Sometimes what we think and what is, are two different things. Your quilt is very pretty and I like the pattern she used on it.

I agree. I think it looks fine. Some people might prefer this design this way and some may prefer it horizontal. Either way, I think it looks fine. I actually really like it.

I also always ask my customer what they want for the Top adn I put a pin in the middle of the top edge.

I think that the reason it looks wrong to you is that you had it fixed in your mind that the design should go a certain direction. The quilt looks great to me. But, use this as a lesson for the next quilt and give very specific directions. Maybe even write them down for the quilter.

I think it looks great.
