Here's a link to a picture of a one block wonder.

Another thought that went through my head when reading the OP's description is the La Passacaglia quilt, pictured here. It's a lot more complicated than 6 sections, so probably not. But it's nice eye candy! 😁

Both of those are beautiful but not what I'm looking for. I suppose the best I can describe the way the blocks are is somewhat like the jigsaw pattern that the shapes intertwine. The tessalating patterns seem to be the closest.
I'd love to post a picture but the description of how to do that is beyond my comprehension. Why can't we simply copy/paste?
As to the thing of it being 6 blades--each FINISHES at 2 1/2" so would be cut at 3" and there is a triangle shape background. If that helps anyone. I'll continue to look with the tessalating suggestions. Seeing some really pretty quilts doing this!

We used to be able to copy and paste, but for some reason that option went away with the last forum upgrade.

You *can*, however, copy and paste a link. Is there a place on the web where you've found a picture of this quilt? Or maybe it's in your Flickr account? You can paste a link to the picture here very easily. ;)

Hmmmm I think I might have an idea of what quilt you're talking about, my friend Cindi made one that sounds like what you're describing. Let me contact her or see if I can find it. I seem to remember it was on Simply Quilts, or The Quilt Show....

Is this it?

Here's another pic

This one seems to fit the bill, and it is only one block, but color sorting would be confusing.

Could it be this one? Scroll down to see the block.
I've seen it back recently but can't remember where.

ok. Here's how the finished quilt looks. I guess she has a
pattern called Tiny Dancer with this block.
Edit: I noticed that Tiny Dancer use a different method.
But you can achieve the same by using jelly rolls or 2.5" strips
and use her tutorial for hexagon quilt along.

There it is!!! It's the one from aquiltinglife. But now how to get the pattern? The link takes me to the final construction and, when I clicked on "download the pattern", nothing happens. Thank you "workbench"! You did it!! You found the one I hope to find--now for the pattern. The quilt that I've seen was made with all the blades alike and in bright pastels.
