Fairly simple pattern to make. For a 12 inch block you would use 2 inch strips. You will get very good at sewing 45 degree angles for the connection points between colors. Save the cutoffs, little HSTs are really cool in scrap quilts. The tricky part is for you to figure out how long to make the strips for each quarter block. Assuming 12 inch block again, the dark will be 1 1/2, 3, 4 1/2, and 6 inches FINISHED for each quarter block. That makes the raw pieces 2, 3 1/2, 5, and 6 1/2.
A lot of work but a nice looking quilt when you are finished.
Good luck.
