I hope someone can help me, I'm trying to make Eleanor Burn's Peony pattern from her Egg Money Book. She makes flying geese with 2 different sized sqs. sews corner to corner all 4 corners then cuts, uses some sort of flying geese ruler she makes. I'd like to use the usual flying geese which is easy. Hers is complicated and wasteful. Anyone??????

The secret of the ruler is to get the 45 degree lines to match on the fabric and the ruler. You can do that with any ruler that has 45 degree lines on it. And be sure you have the 1/4 inch seam allowance above the point of the geese.
I really like the no waste method. |
It's not hard to find her products She has an online shop that sells her rulers, notions, books and fabric. She has great sales. I have the small flying geese ruler of hers. It works great but I like paper piecing flying geese blocks or use the one seam flying geese method.

Her rulers are at Joanns. Coupon??

I got mine at our local fabric store, I am learning how to use it today actually it works pretty good I plan on making a quilt making the Flying Dutchman block

I have the rulers, they still have the plastic wrap on them. Have never used them to make flying geese. My flying geese come out just fine without the rulers.

My only beef is she has a small and large geese ruler. You can get both for $14 or $7 a piece. Yet although it means keeping up with 2 rulers, even I can make perfect geese with her rulers. I haven't found there to be a lot of fabric waste, just keeping up with 2 rulers.

I've made Eleanor Burn's flying geese without a special ruler but I don't consider her method complicated or wasteful. It's just about the only way I make flying geese.

I like the no-waste method that is the second method on this tute:
http://www.connectingthreads.com/tut...hods__D15.html It takes a bit of getting used to, but I hate the waste of the method described in the video or the rectangle/ small squares one. Marysewfun |
I have all her geese rulers and love them.
You make a lot of geese so why not have the tools that work for you. |
