Yes, it's the Babylock Sashiko (sp)

I have a stitch on my machine that alows this. Insvisible thread in bobbin and whatever you like on top. The stitch looks like hand quilting 'cause one stitch is regular thread and the stitch next to it is the invisible thread. Cool!
I have an old Bernina, Quilters edition.
peace

My friend just got a new Bernina and it has a hand quilt option to select.

Yes the Sashiko does hand stitch...If you search Sashiko on this sight...many discussions on how to get this look with your machine...using invisable thread on top, double stitch on your machine, reg stitch in bobbin...do your longest stitch length and high tension...What it does is pull your reg thread to the top everyother stitch to make it look like hand running stitch

Even if your machine doesn't have a built in stitch for this, I think you can play around with different stitches and you can replicate this look. SOMEWHERE in my sewing room I have notes on this and what stitch(es) you can use to do this. You would use invisible thread in the top and colored thread in bottom (whatever color you want to show). It has been a long time since I did this so can't remember but it was really cool. If I find it I will add it to this topic.

all it takes is money, ladies and you can have a machibe that serves you tea at two precisely. LOL

I have heard if you use monofilament thread in top and whatever color you want in the bobbin and adjust your tension so that the bobbin thread shows it looks like handstitching. Never tried it though

The Janome Memory Craft 11000 SE has built in hand-look stitches, including a hand quilting stitch. I will try to post the link to the Janome web site that shows a picture of these stitches: http://content.janome.com/documents/...ures/MC11K.pdf
