Took me several episodes of it happening to figure out what was going on.

I had the same problem. It was sneaking under the edge of my sewing desk. It just was far enough under there to sew really slow. It freaked my out the first time.

I believe this was a subject discussed about a year ago. Use Search to look for it. I believe it was about Janomes.

Oh, that's not good. I suggest you go back to the place of purchase and ask for a replacement pedal (preferable a free one).

I've got two Janome babies and each was purchased when the models first arrived in stores (MC10K and MC11Kse). Luckily I have never had anything go wrong with them; only needed to do yearly cleanings. Both run like a dream!

That's interesting - I don't have this problem with my Pfaff, but one day I thought the pedal seemed strange (I always "pedal" barefoot) and I had it upside down. It felt quite comfortable, though, so perhaps I'll try it again!!

Can you say "Toyota"? I am wondering if these different machine manufacturers are out-sourcing their foot pedals made to the same company?

i have never used my foot pedalon my Janome ! Maybe i'm glad that i havent :(

.ok ok here's the problem i believe and the solution. i have a janome also and my foot pedal did the same thing. of course i sew on a carpeted floor, so here's what i did: just turn the pedal upside down and use it that way. mine has never done it again. another thing be sure and put your foot in the middle of that thingy - not to the side of it. mine works perfect upside down and i even like it better that way.

This problem was discussed on another list and what they found was they had lint or threads caught up in the foot pedal. I'd recommend taking it to the dealer for a cleaning. Apparently it's not easy to get the foot pedal back together correctly. I've had Janomes since they were New Homes and never had this problem personally but it would be scary.

if the local dealer won't take care of it, my suggestion is call and write corporate and report the problem and tell what kind of service you are getting locally

I have had 2 Janomes & I have never had the problem. I will keep my fingers crossed this doesn't happen.
