grannyp70 01-21-2011 07:15 AM

Beautiful love your colors, where did you find the pattern. Would love to try and do one of those.

Mariah 01-21-2011 07:34 AM

Love it! Looks and sounds much easier than to buy the paper you are supposed to be able to figure out which line to sew on.
I am saving your picture and website so that I can do the folded method when I get "unburied" from the deals I am on now.
thanks for sharing
Mariah.

I have the Wedgeworks book, tried the compass, and quickly found that I'm not that accurate a sewer! :-( This method, for whatever reason, looks like I might be able to do one. Thanks, I just ordered the pattern!!

Did you stitch down the points? I am doing 4 compasses in a diamond shape, for my sailor's quilt. He wanted the points secured and 4 ships wheels and 4 anchor quilted into the squared off corners of the quilt. I used blues and a maroon paisley with light tan background. I had a problem getting the center points to meet, so just used a circle of the same color in the center. Mine was from the "Wedgeworks II book"

I love this, looked at the pattern & templates & it seems to me, you can only do the one large size? Does anyone know for sure, as I would like to do them in smaller sizes, not just one big size. You are doing a great job, love it, & thanks for sharing!

that is so beautiful! I took a class with paper piecing mariner compass and takes to long. I never finished it. What pattern did you use on this?

You picked beautiful colors! It's a great looking block, but I think your color choices really make it stand out from all the other Mariner's Compass blocks.
