I am not technically math challenged. However, geometry is my nemesis. I am not visual-spacial. Algebra and I are best buds. I will make the pattern out of paper (I draw the dashed seam lines on it too, yes I'm a tad anal at times). Cut out the pieces on the actual cutting lines. I glue the pieces onto a whole sheet of some sort of paper on the seam line only, assembling the block like I would if it were cloth. This has saved me from a couple really expensive mistakes on misreading instructions especially trying to understand where to square block segments, etc.

Now when I grow up, maybe I will get to use a grown-up glue stick. Right now I just use one I grabbed from the school supply section of the grocery store. Oh yeah, post-it glue sticks are my friend too.

Funny, I am completely math challenge but I just 'have at it'& it all works out. I guess you would say that I am visual-spacial....or just "special" maybe :-) When I buy fabric I have no idea what I need, I just look at it & say whatever I think might work. Sometimes I have a little extra but that goes into my stash, sometimes I have a few orphan blocks but it beats thinking too hard. LOL!!!

I always say I'll take 3 yards of that and that and that!!! I hope it is enough for a top, Who plans for the back and borders and bindings? I have NO idea!!

I am SO numericaly challenged! I cant even remember my phone number. it figures I married a finacial analyst. to bad he knows nothing of quilting or he may actually understand what I need him to calculate for me :D

Geometry is the only subject I had to repeat in summer school.
Never made sense to me. :D I still don't know how I passed.

I think mine was a pity grade.

I won one of those stupid calculators years ago, still in the package!! 3 yard of this and 3 yards of that and that have served me well! It also makes the stash sit up and take notice.

Quilt U classes are the greatest bargain you can find. Each class has a discussion forum where you can ask questions of classmates and the instructor, the price can't be beat, and Dean Crain can explain anything so that you understand it (I've taken one of her other classes). There's a free class on Borders that will give you a taste of how they work.
