My son-in-law's father started hand quilting on a frame since he retired. He doesn't do any piecing or sewing, just the quilting. He is working to finish up a pile of quilt tops his father pieced (his dad is in his 90s and in a nursing home). He finds it very relaxing.

My hubby has been helping me make quilts for several years now. I have found he is great at snipping rag quilts. Take him to a quilt show and let him practice on the machines - that's how I convinced mine I needed a Bernina.

Fons & Porter Magazine recently featured a Biker that is a
quilter. His quilts were beautiful.

Thirty years ago I lived in a town where the doctor made the Fire Department Chief learn to crochet! He was suffering from "nerves on the job" and sure enough it worked, and calmed him down.
I never knew what he did with his finished pieces...but everybody in town knew about it and kindly agreed it was a good idea. J
