I got all my blocks apart last night, all ironed and ready to sew back together. I finished dinner and took the time to get my machines back together and in their new home. So if I can get off the computer, I am ready to set up Betty Jean for sewing. Just not into it, but got to get this DONE!!!

nancia 01-19-2014 11:40 AM

Have been putting around and have nothing done. I made a quilt to cover the French doors, but it doesn't so after i bind it, I will make a quilted valance to complete it. I think i will measure this time, lol! I will post a pic soon!

very cute kids quilt! So satisfying to get something finished!! Good for you!

PS Stitcher 01-19-2014 11:50 AM

I actually finished piecing a t-shirt quilt top. Now the young lady that I am making it for has to take it to get the fabric for the border, backing and binding. So as soon as she gets back with it, I will have to take a picture. This is the first one that I have done and it really has gone quite quickly.

Here are pics of the French door cover. I just need to bind it or add a quilt as i go pieced border. Can't do things the simple way! Lol

Just finished making over 500" of binding for a king size quilt! :p

Ate a snack and I'm ready to attack the quilt with binding.

Sun is gone, wind is blowing - ugggggghhhhhhh

Just stopped for a popcorn snack so will post a picture of what I have so far. Just needs the rows to be sewn together & then the edges all trimmed even. I found this pattern at crazymomquilts.blogspot.ca I did make it one row shorter than the directions.

Just found you here doing a VQ weekend, and wanted to share what I've been working on too: http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...d-t239204.html

Raggiemom 01-19-2014 03:00 PM

Ladies, your projects are looking great! I've been cutting fabric and assembling several quilt kits this afternoon. Probably just about done for the day but will be back to work in the morning. Unfortunately the cats don't the housework for me. In fact, they tend to create more :)

Mariposa 01-19-2014 03:08 PM

I am enjoying my DGK's today, as we watch the Seahawks game. I also get to hold my 4 day old GD! :) I will check in tomorrow~ :)

Great work everyone, all the projects look lovely!

I'm working on a HST quilt using leftover squares from a DP9. Making good progress, it seems to be going together quickly. All the HST units are made, now I'm working on pressing them and trimming them.

I got the blocks done for a falling charms quilt--hope to sew the rows together tomorrow.

thimblebug6000 01-19-2014 04:40 PM

Great to see everyone's projects...thanks for posting them... just heating up the iron.... only 3 more rows to stitch together after that, wahoo!

I'm done for the night, have the rows stitched together, but won't trim off the points until I find a backing... then I'll trim & staystitch before sandwiching. Thanks for posting this thread, I always enjoy seeing what everyone is up to! Sorry for the poor picture, but it's the living room carpet... and only a few side lamps available!

Thank you for the photos you all have posted. Keep them coming! Thimblebug, I made a chevron quilt like yours as a wedding gift in 2013. The 'on point' setting made me crazy, but I got it done!

Here's what I have to show so far. This is the first of two I Spy Strip quilt tops I plan to do this weekend. I posted the first one and the two pillows I made to go with them. As you can see, I have enough 60 degree triangles cut, and half triangles, to put together another top just like the first. Hope to put it together tomorrow.

happylab 01-19-2014 08:59 PM

I enjoy reading and seeing everyone 's quilt projects. I've been working on getting fabric together for the batik disappearing 4-patch swap and will wash the fabric tomorrow. Finishing up 18 more blocks for another swap. Then I need to print out 4 blocks of motorcycle pic and transfer the Pics to fabric. Then I will make a throw quilt with these 4 blocks and 12 other blocks I have already made. I plan on sewing on these for Monday and Tuesday. And finally bind a small wall hanging. I will post pics as I finish up my projects over the next 2 days. Happy sewing everyone.

Raggiemom 01-20-2014 05:27 AM

Wow, your points look great!

Hello ladies! I am late to this party as I had to work Sat & Sun, but I have today off so better late than never!

I will be working on my first paper piecing project - a feathered star snowflake wallhanging - wish me luck!

DebraK 01-20-2014 07:38 AM

I didn't sew at all yesterday. I've been teaching my son how to drive. We're going out again, this morning, for grocery shopping. That should be fun. He hasn't gone shopping with me since before he was in school, when I had to take him everywhere I went. Maybe this will be more than just a driving lesson for him ;-)

After that, back to the Doctor Who blocks. I'm enjoying everyone's pictures and will share mine later tonight.

Same here... I may be mistaken but it seems our previous Virtual Quilting Weekends were in the Main section, where people could find them! I would never have found this one if QuiltnNan hadn't mentioned it in the Main section.

I just have to put some buttons on 2 little monthly squares that were bom from 2years ago. I will try to post some pictures later.

Now I have to go get my car from the garage where it went in for an oil change.

QuiltingVagabond 01-20-2014 03:04 PM

Well I managed to finish the paper pieced units for my snowflake. My sewing room has a sunny southern window, which is perfect for holding the pieces up to check for good placement. I think I am a PP convert, it was a little like working a puzzle - definitely a "thinking" method of piecing. I am done sewing for the today!

Raggiemom 01-20-2014 03:28 PM

I'm so glad we quilted together this weekend :) I'll plan our next one for Presidents Day weekend, 2/14-17. Hope you can all join me.

Did not manage to get as much sewing done as I had hoped had DD and family for weekend. Was hoping to sew most of today but DD stayed over and insisted I start decluttering (_seriously overdue). Then a trip to Ikea. Monday evening is always sewing with a friend so here is my effort for today. Hoping to get top sewn together tomorrow. Have not posted pic from iPad before so fingers crossed.

Pretty quilt Cannyquilter! I'm sorry you didn't get as much done as you wanted to, hope it goes well tomorrow!

I finished the HST top I was working one. Started and finished in one weekend, a new one for me. It helped that I already had the squares cut and ready to go. It need borders, I'm thinking cream or mustard yellow, but that will require a trip to the fabric store.

I'm done with this top for now! Arrrgghh! It ended up 60 by 62 and has waves on the bottom rows. All of the fabric was donated and the squares were cut by my church quilters. I should have stopped at a baby size. Oh, well. The quilters will need to tie it a little closer than usual and then donate it. I will leave it hang until tomorrow and see if any of you have suggestions on where I need to take it apart. If I were brave, I would sandwich it and pin it like mad and try to do some stitch-in-the ditch. But I'm not brave, at least not tonight. I used 3 1/2 and 4 inch alternating rows. I think I should have reversed my direction of sewing on each row but I didn't think of it until now. :(

You might try blocking the quilt top. I've had some luck blocking a finished quilt, but haven't tried it on a top. I would bet that blocking and then starching while it is still blocked would stiffen the top and allow it to be quilted with minimal problems. You also might try posting on the Main Forum for help, there are a lot of quilters with more experience than I have who could help.

mhollifiel 01-22-2014 04:01 AM

You have all made great use of this weekend. I hope to be right there with you next time!

DebraK 01-22-2014 10:44 AM

here are the other blocks I've finished. The last one is the one I pieced over the weekend.

Omigosh! Those dr who blocks are exquisite! Dh would think he'd found himself a new trophy wife if i made him one of those! Where did you find the pattern or is it all yours!? Not that i know how to do paper piecing, mind you, lol. I am in awe of all the beautiful work being done!

holli-- so glad surgery went well! And you got a BOGO! Free hiatal hernia repair! Haven't heard of the gastric sleeve. Sounds less stressful than having parts removed. Can't wait to hear of your continued success! Little teensy bits and sips seem to be the order of the day! Remember, after the first taste it all tastes the same, so no need to have 35 spoonfuls to enjoy it! Wishing you a quick recovery!

DebraK 01-22-2014 02:59 PM

Thank you, nancia. I found them here:
http://www.whimsandfancies.com/doctor-who-along/

you can also find them at Craftsy. They are still free!

I redid part of the top that I posted the other day. I am much happier with it now even if it has some sags in it.

I learned a lot with the sashing and I will definitely measure width and length from now on.

Until next virtual quilting weekend,

Connie

nancia 01-23-2014 01:22 PM

Connie, it looks great! I'm glad you're happy with it! 8-)

happylab 01-23-2014 03:50 PM

DebraK, I love your blocks, very pretty and nice.
This weekend I completed my 36 black/bright blocks and mailed, forgot to take pictures. That was the only thing I was able to complete, from my list. Maybe next get together.

DebraK 01-24-2014 05:20 AM

Thanks, happylab. Sorry we missed your blocks. I hesitated showing mine. Two of the blocks have errors. That spaceship was a real challenge for me! I'm not doing that one over ;-)

thimblebug6000 01-25-2014 04:29 PM

I finished my quilt today & posted in it pictures in case you want to see the finished version. http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...ml#post6534682

PurpleBecca 01-30-2014 09:43 PM

Love these Dr Who blocks... are they your own designs??? can I buy patterns anywhere? Thanks in advance.
