My trusty Bernina is so sick I had to have her admitted today. The doc said it looked really bad, but that after some tests he can let me know if she's worth saving. She's been with me for a long time so I hate to let her go, but I really don't want her to suffer. She's in ICU tonight and they say it may be two weeks before we know anything. Please think about us.

dkabasketlady 03-03-2011 04:27 PM

I'm so sorry to hear of your trusty Bernina being sick!! I hope that you have a back-up machine so that you don't have withdrawals too!

RatherB Quilting 03-03-2011 04:30 PM

Sending healing thoughts to Miss Bernina. Hope she comes home happy and sew healthy soon!

Eva Knight 03-03-2011 04:30 PM

Where is her Dr. located? My Brother was just released from Sewingmachine.com on ottley drive yesterday. She's doing really well today.

Scrap Happy 03-03-2011 04:33 PM

May the Quilting Goddess protect your Bernina and get her home to you soon.

Rachel 03-03-2011 04:35 PM

Wow. I've had a bernina for 25 years, didn't know they got sick. So sorry to hear about yours. Hope she gets better soon!

Lori S 03-03-2011 04:36 PM

I will keep you in my thoughts for a full and speedy recovery. Maybe just a nip and tuck and she'll be like she was 20 years ago. I hear they can do amazing things these days! Its the separation thats hard!

frauhahn 03-03-2011 04:38 PM

Best wishes for a speedy recovery for your Bernina!

sueisallaboutquilts 03-03-2011 04:48 PM

Oh no...what model is it? Crossing my fingers for you!

chiaraquilts 03-03-2011 06:07 PM

I have an old one , a 1010 that I thought was completely gone...after a week of therapy, she is fine again! They are tough...good luck!

Julie in NM 03-03-2011 06:09 PM

My Baby Lock had to have a transplant for the feed dogs. I know how much you are worried.

BETTY62 03-03-2011 06:52 PM

I hope your Bernie Baby can be saved. It's hard to lose a trusted friend.

gmaybee 03-03-2011 07:10 PM

Maybe Bernina wants to retire. You could always get a new model 8-)

Yooper32 03-04-2011 04:13 AM

I'm worried. If she doesn't survive, do you have a plot and how much will the stone cost? Of course, with all the prayers here, she will most likely survive, but one needs to be prepared.

jolo 03-04-2011 05:20 AM

I hope they dont enforce the 5 minute visiting on the even hour,so you can see what she is going thru. lol Jo RN Ret.

Para722 03-04-2011 05:29 AM

OMG I am so sorry to hear about your "friend" being in ICU. My viking just came back and I have to buy a new machine. I am sick about this as I love my machine. The sweet part of all of this is I get to go shopping.

SueDor 03-04-2011 05:35 AM

Hope for a speedy recovery!

Cris 03-04-2011 05:38 AM

Hope the medicine and TLC do wonders for her!

mountain deb 03-04-2011 06:12 AM

I sometimes think maybe we should buy two machines that we like. While one is in for repairs, we have the backup.

Amanda from South Texas 03-04-2011 06:31 AM

Lord mine is not as nice as a Bernina but she has to go into the hospital today and I am already having separation anxiety! I feel for you :(

Maia B 03-04-2011 06:36 AM

Hope your Bernina is back in good health soon.

Tweety2911 03-04-2011 06:44 AM

So Sorry Miss Bernina is not well. Wishing her a very rapid recovery.

nabobw 03-04-2011 06:46 AM

LOL so sorry

Doreen 03-04-2011 07:05 AM

It could be just a cough and she could be well on her way to recovery!

luvstoquilt 03-04-2011 07:17 AM

OH NO! My Pfaff just died last week. I was sick when I was told she was beyond repair. I bought a Viking and I really love her. I hope your Bernina can be repaired.

Treasureit 03-04-2011 07:29 AM

If "outsiders" read this post they would be SOOO confused!! I say suck it up honey....get new one and dump that old dog! (just kidding)

quilting memaw 03-04-2011 07:32 AM

I actually bought the extended warranty from the shop I bought my Viking SE from because they include free cleanings too...I take it in about 4 times a year and - it pays for itself in 2 cleanings. I never buy those things, but since this is computerized I can't do much for it if it breaks.

suesembroidery 03-04-2011 08:02 AM

My brother ULT2003 died. I now am a proud of a new brother 4500D I love it, but miss the old one.

foxxigrani 03-04-2011 08:22 AM

I am like the rest, I didn't know Bernina's ever got sick, I have had mine for 29 yrs and its never been sick. I don't care for it as I should, its like a timex give it a licking and it keeps on ticking. I feel sorry for my machine actually, it could have gotten a better owner. One who would care of it. Poor thing.

kellen46 03-04-2011 09:14 AM

My trusty Ms B that I have had for over 4 decades now once had to go in for major surgery. Seems I sewed on her so much that I had worn her brushes to just nubs. Had to have a whole new motor. Since then she has run just fine. She is in semi retirement now, her younger sis does the grunt work and Miss B gets to help newbies learn to sew. Thank the heavens for competent and understanding repairmen who know and love Berninas and who know how much we love our machines.

Nolee 03-04-2011 09:41 AM

This is why, I am told, you need a second machine, so that the mourning is not so painful. I only have one machine too, a Bernina, and have never had to leave her for more than a day. So glad I crochet, LOL.

laralea 03-04-2011 10:03 AM

Oh dear!! This is very serious!! Bernina's are supposed to be immortal, so hopefully this is a little illness with just a big scare. Prayers for both you and the Bernina! I have a Bernina 1130 and I would be very upset if anything happened to it.

bearisgray 03-04-2011 10:05 AM

My Bernina was purchased in 1962. I'm trying to get it back from my daughter. I love that machine.
