I am liking a lot of things about the new board- that hovering thing is great! Thanks for the Recent Post button, too...

Adaping to change is not part of me......but this site change has been fun to learn. Everyone will adapt and learn in all good time. I thank you for your wonderful work to maintain this site. It is an inspiration and huge help to me.

CruisingStef 11-04-2011 04:04 PM

It's always hard to adjust to change, but give us a couple of weeks and we will find this QB just as great as the last one. Great job!

Patricej has been very patient with me, as it took me two and alf hours to log into the "new" site. By then, I was too tired to appreciate the new look, so I shut down and went to bed. They did remove all the old and redid all the "rooms" & arrangements. Sometimes it takes several trys on a new quilt pattern, so just hang in there. It is a great site, nicely managed, and I still love it. Congrads to all admin who worked so hard on this site.

My thoughts: QB is just a brand name of a Company that aims profit, theres not a volunteer thingy as someone posted. Whatever new we have has been designed to suit business interests. Scroll down to the end of any page, click on Internet Brands to know more about the company that owns QB.

And yes, Patricej has been very patient with us.
Can we imagine how patient she had to be with people in charge of changes ?

I am just wondering --- Do I really have to sign in every time I want to reply? It seems to be how it is workng for me, a bit of a nuisance.

connie_1936 11-04-2011 10:28 PM

wish they had thought things out better before making the changes. if it ain't broke, don't nfix it.

JudyMN 11-05-2011 12:31 PM

Thank you for all the work put into this board. I'm getting used to it and will have it figured out soon. Thank you to all who post pictures. It is better than subscribing to a quilting magazine!

glorcour 11-05-2011 02:38 PM

I wish I could make a positive comment about NEW site at this point, but I find it cumbersome, slower and not nearly as easily accessed. Given some time I may grow to like it. I'll give it more time.

colores 11-06-2011 06:59 PM

What a beautiful and modern looking site. How friendly it is, I love the look, I have no room in my life for any one who
complains. Such a waist of the precious time we have each day. Thank you so very much for making this site available for those of us who live for sewing. Well done sister friends, well done.

Sheila_H 11-06-2011 07:02 PM

Hi Colores from another Canadian - I'm in Ontario hope you like it here.

skjquiltnut 11-07-2011 04:13 PM

A BIG thank you to everyone working so diligently and effectively creating this new and improved Quilting Board......I'm in clear up to my ankles at this time ;0) and getting more used to the "water" every time I log on.

skjquiltnut 11-07-2011 04:15 PM

.....but where are the Smilies and how do we edit our message..Thanks

Sewflower 11-07-2011 04:22 PM

Change is always difficult but it seems to get easier the more you use it. I hope the members give it a chance. The possibilities are endless. Thank You

when you sign in click where it says "remember me"

I personally love the new look. It's been interesting looking around and discovering things I can do. Just takes a little time and I love learning new things, so I look at it as a challenge in my older years. LOL. Anyway congrats to the monitors and Patrice for all their hard work putting up with us.

go to top of page click on settings, once there look on left scroll down a bit and click on general settings. scroll down to near the bottom and you will see this

[h=3]"Miscellaneous Options[/h]<label>Message Editor Interface:</label>
  • <label for="rb_vbcode2"><input id="rb_vbcode2" tabIndex="1" name="showvbcode" value="2" type="radio"> Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing</label>

  • <label for="rb_vbcode1"><input id="rb_vbcode1" tabIndex="1" name="showvbcode" value="1" type="radio"> Standard Editor - Extra formatting controls</label>
When posting messages to the forums or other members, there are three interface types available to you. The simplest of these is a simple text box, while the last is a fully-fledged WYSIWYG editor, which allows you to format your text as you want it and see the results immediately.

Depending upon the capabilities of your web browser, you may not be able to use all of these options. If you experience problems when posting messages, try switching to a different interface type."

click on the top one and you will have your smileys back.

I for one am pleased with the new changes. After a week, I am becoming comfortable and finding my way around. The old site was easy but new one has so much more! Thanks to all for their hard work.

I am 76 years old and I mourn the loss of the old web site. The simplicity of it made me be able to enjoy it much' the new web site at my age needs a teacher along with it and as that does not exist I am ready to leave.I do not email people I do not do face book and I could enjoy the old site .They have eliminated people like me. and I am sad that that is how it goes.

rusty quilter 11-09-2011 09:08 AM

I love this site. Change is never easy--but often necessary to continue to move forward. Thank you for all of your continued hard work.

NatalieMacDonald 11-09-2011 09:15 AM

How can I say this without getting into trouble?? I have a few seniors/elderly/older people in my life and I see the struggle they have (I'm on the cusp of this group!) of understanding and changing with technology. Some of us can function well with what we know in our routines. A change like this new format may be too much, especially for those without support or community in the quilting environment. One thing I did right away after clicking everywhere to see what is what, I also went to the Live Chat where I picked up some essential features by just listening. Ask a question there and someone will get right back to you.

My Mom, who is 85, made 4 or 5 quilts this year and I just got one. I'll be posting a picture soon and it will inspire all of us to keep keeping on!

linda faye 11-09-2011 09:35 AM

Thanks to all involved in updating this board! Everyday it is getting easier to navigate and I am loving it.

Tink's Mom 11-09-2011 09:40 AM

I'm a slow learner...but sticking with it...
I see things that I like with the new system...and will keep posting until I get used to it....

judord 11-09-2011 12:00 PM

Ditto!

I am 71 and don't see how that makes any difference in how you look at it. Are you saying that you are too old to make any adjustments and just look around and find what you want to see? That is what makes young people think that all us old folks are dotty and can't change anything. Try to be a bit more open-minded and keep trying. You will get it if you want to.

BuzzinBumble 11-09-2011 12:07 PM

Yes! A big Thank you to all of you who have been working so hard behind the scenes! Your help to all of us is invaluable!

franlambert 11-09-2011 12:15 PM

I agree. For the first time in years I' able to log in. Before, it never allowed me in telling me that I had the wrong password or sign in name. Now I can make comments.

QuiltedCritterLady 11-09-2011 12:30 PM

Just want to add kudos from me too. I love this board! ;)

QandE2010 11-09-2011 01:16 PM

I will throw my thanks into the mix, also. I really appreciate anyone that has anything to do with "running" this board. I also have learned many many things and I haven't been a member long, but have been a quilter for over 50 years. (I started when I was 6 months old. LOL)

Tinabug 11-09-2011 01:48 PM

My thanks to the tekkies who take care of this board. I am getting the "hang of it" now and really do like it. I thank you and appreciate the dedicated work you do.

snicker dee 11-09-2011 04:20 PM

I too do not care for change and all that it requires of me. It is hard work to adapt to change.... even good changes Have heard it said that we human beings would prefer our own misery if misery is what is familiar to us. SO on that note, I want to say THANK YOU for shaking up my world and bringing change once again to me in a small corner of my life. I will persevere, I will adjust and eventually I will even enjoy all the "new" stuff. Right about the time I get settled into things ..... CHANGE will come again!!!!! It is called LIFE...... Thank you one and all

Oh, yea, i am getting used to it..why just this evening...i learned something new..

Quilting Angel 11-10-2011 01:44 AM

I still have not got use to the new board, but hoping I will get it downpat soon. If I post something, I have no idea how to find what I have posted to see the responses. I also don't know where my past post are located. Not sure what is going on with the newsletter, but it is a lot shorter than usual....not as many posts there or pics and I see a lot of posts showing up repeatedly

Ditto for me. It is getting a tiny bit easier each time I use the QB.

OrangeSherbet 11-12-2011 03:11 PM

Thanks for all the new stuff!!

ms sewer 11-12-2011 03:24 PM

Thanks from me too,\.

Lucky Lindy 11-12-2011 07:25 PM

Sorry, I think this new improvement is too tedious. Too many steps to sign in, and to see what everyone else is doing and thinking. I'm not stopping to check things out, which just might give me more time to sew.

cheri stonespinner 11-13-2011 07:01 PM

It might just be me but the text seems easier to read now! I can get used to this! I do miss the cartoon faces we could add after our post. peace friends!

walkswithwolves 11-13-2011 07:43 PM

Thank You, Dandish.
Now I can see without my nose on screen. LOL
