My DH really surprised me, not by buying a machine or anything like that...read on

I am making a queen size log cabin quilt for my sister. I finished the 81 blocks needed. Ready to press the seams. This time I decided to press them open. I sew them open, so this helps a great deal. The other day I had the iron out and was pressing the seams on some blocks. I decided to take a shower. I came back.....DH was actually sitting there, pressing the seams. What a God send, I am now half way through the 81 blocks.
He also took the pressed ones, put them on the table 9 blocks each, turning each group so they are easily identifiable. He then placed a sheet of plain paper and some books to help keeping them flat till I can join them.

Sunnie 01-10-2012 07:57 AM

Oh, I wish you lived closer so I could borrow him. What a nice thing he did.

babyboomerquilter 01-10-2012 08:12 AM

He is a keeper! Its always great to get some help!

SundarKoyal 01-10-2012 08:20 AM

Wow, that is just the sweetest thing ever. Soooo very thougtful of him.

sandybuttons 01-10-2012 08:21 AM

If my hubby did that, I would wonder who the man was, and what did he do with my hubby???? :)

Glenda m 01-10-2012 08:21 AM

What a sweet thing to do!! My DH doesn't know which end of an iron is up, but the does have other good qualities. He gives me money! LOL Got to love them!!!

crafty pat 01-10-2012 08:25 AM

He is a good one. Don't let him get away.

BellaBoo 01-10-2012 08:39 AM

He must have been really bored! LOL. That was nice of him to help and actually know what to do.

athomenow 01-10-2012 08:42 AM

Wouldn't happen around here. My DH loves to offer his opinions on how things should look or be done but other than that I don't have that kind of help. Good for your DH!

valsma 01-10-2012 08:45 AM

Oh wow, that is amazing. I not sure my husband would know how to turn the iron on. He could manufacture a street sign in his sleep, but I really don't think he could press a seam.
And that is the sweetest thing for him to do. Maybe it is time for him to learn to sew the peices together.

Aubrey'sQuiltingCreations 01-10-2012 09:30 AM

Such a nice thing to do!! Did you ask him if he was sick? Or earning brownie points??

0tis 01-10-2012 09:35 AM

That is wonderful - sometimes it makes you think "Whats up? or what did he do?" it just shows he loves you.

SoSewSue 01-10-2012 12:17 PM

Aaah. Acts of love.

cassiemae 01-10-2012 12:23 PM

WOW You got yourself a wonderful man.

littlesurfer 01-10-2012 12:26 PM

What a pleasant surprise that must have been. I think my husband knows better not to try that...lol!

AliKat 01-10-2012 01:36 PM

Does he have any eligible male relatives just like him down here in Phoenix?

One BIG ATTA Boy for the DH

imdelagarza62 01-10-2012 03:01 PM

How sweet! Definitely a keeper.

Jan in VA 01-10-2012 03:57 PM

Couple more experiences like this with him and you'll have to be asking him if he doesn't actually want to be quilting/sewing one himself! Think of the tools and fabrics you can add to the household stash!

Oh, your sweet story brings tears to this old widow woman's eyes. I guess I will have to run that "husband wanted" ad again.

CarrieC 01-10-2012 04:28 PM

What a sweet story! What a great husband.

peaceandjoy 01-10-2012 04:56 PM

Jingle 01-10-2012 07:09 PM

coldquilter 01-10-2012 07:18 PM

I liked Sunnie's comment about borrowing him if you lived closer - wouldn't we all. What a keeper for sure. That's always more touching than anything you can buy at a store.

pasolovers 01-10-2012 07:37 PM

What a great guy

EskapetheNorm 01-11-2012 04:09 AM

While my hubby can be very trying at helpful, (my perfectionism doesn't jive with his enthusiasm) ... I do have a son that has good fine motor skills that could use lessons.

anniesews 01-11-2012 05:35 AM

What a wondrful husband. Be sure to give him a hug from every quilter who reads this.

Grannyh67 01-11-2012 05:42 AM

Well my DH knows how to iron, learned it in the Air Force but He would never do that for me. He is not much help in that way, He just looks and says "that looks real nice or you are doing a good job", lol. He is a keeper though.
You have a rare one there better keep Him around for a while.

dglvr 01-11-2012 06:08 AM

What a guy. I'd keep him around and take more looooong showers. hahaha Who knows how much he could get done. That would not happen around here either. Thanks for sharing. :)

luci4 01-11-2012 06:15 AM

How very to nice of him to help.
