My mom has a Nolting long arm machine. She let me use it today for the first time. I hand quilt most of my quilts but I wanted this one for the kids to use in the rec room and I thought it would be a good one to practice on. This is a mystery quilt I made from scraps. The binding will be dark purple.

Lovely quilt. Love the colors. You did a great job.

thequiltmama 01-19-2011 02:12 PM

Love it...and I envy you, I would love to play on a longarm.

Beautiful quilt. I love the colors you chose. I also envy you. I would love to own a longarm but I can't afford one. Not even the cheapest one out there. I do all of my quilting on my sewing machine.

cmw0829 01-19-2011 02:17 PM

You made THAT from SCRAPS????? It's absolutely gorgeous! And from what I see, the quilting is really nicely done.

suebee 01-19-2011 02:19 PM

Okay, first of all this quilt is awesome. Can you share pattern name? Second...I do believe you are a natural on the longarm. I wished I could afford one :(

Stitchnripper 01-19-2011 02:29 PM

maryb119 01-19-2011 03:25 PM

Thanks so much. I am excited about using the long arm. I made this a long time ago and I don't remember the name of the pattern. This quilt top has been on my UFO pile and I decided to get it finished.

hperttula123 01-19-2011 03:47 PM

That is awesome!!!

quiltlonger 01-19-2011 03:58 PM

It looks great! How fun to have one you can learn on...I wish I had someone that would let me play a couple times! And that is a beautiful quilt that you made from your scraps!

Mary - nice job on the quilt - it's to colorful! Looks like you had fun on the LA. Someday I hope to be able to try one out too.

amorerm 01-20-2011 08:06 AM

I'm the one who fear of "scrap quilts". But...I really this like quilt and all the wonderful colors and arrangement. One of the days....I'll take the punge thanks to the quilts I see on here how wonderful they are.

Another example of a quilt with colors I would probably never have thought to put together, but where the end result is absolutely fabulous - love, love, love it! Great job  I definitely need to get more adventurous.

SittingPretty 01-20-2011 08:35 AM

I can never get scrap quilts to come out right. Must be my choice of colors, or something. You did a beautiful job, and I agree, you must be a natural on the longarm. I've heard some people seem to have an awful time getting it right.

champagnebubbles 01-20-2011 09:03 AM

Lucky to be able to play and finish your UFO

katyquilter 01-20-2011 09:15 AM

That is an awesome quilt. Great job on the quilting.

Iluv2quilt 01-20-2011 09:27 AM

That's a very pretty quilt, nice long arm work!

dunster 01-20-2011 09:41 AM

You did a marvelous job, especially for the first time. The scariest thing about owning a longarm is when you first get it home, and any training you received goes right out of your mind. There you are with a big, expensive machine and no one to guide you through the process. It's wonderful that you had your mother to show you the ropes.

Quilts R Hugs 01-20-2011 10:17 AM

Awesome job!!! would love to get the pattern great colors and great quiting
