August 23, 2010 – Freedom Star Block #33 – Birthday Star Block This is the first paper pieced project I have ever tried. It was harder than I thought it would be and I learned you really have to continue past the printed lines in some spots but NOT in others, lol. I was amazed it turned out so well. I'm in the boomerang 5 swap and I wanted to try it out first before I used someone else's fabric. |
That is my goal SOMEDAY, to try paper piecing. Your block is beautiful.

I chose the blue with stars as one of my main fabrics to try and make a patriotic quilt for (hopefully) a raffle later this fall. |
I saw this pattern earlier, and I really like it. The colors you used make the design really stand out.
Thanks for sharing, it's a wonderful block!
I love this block, yours has turned out well!

Very, very nice for your first attempt at paper piecing!!! You did a very good job!!! I've been paper piecing for years and that is not a block I would have recommended for a beginner, but you did a fabulous job!

great block--well done
Very impressed!!

Paper piecing defies the rules of regular piecing. You have to make the mental jump to doing things opposite of what we're used to. But, goodness, the results are so worth it! Great job!
What a beautiful block. I love paper-piecing. It's addicting once you get the hang of it.
I loved ALL those stars from DreamCastle Quilts! You did very well on your first attempt. Now you know why some of us love PP so much!!
You did a great job. You are right, PP, is not the easiest concept to just pick up and do, but the result is wonderful. Thanks for sharing. Happy Quilting, :D

I have never tried paper piece. You sure make it so beautiful. :)
You did a good job! Once you do a few paper piecing projects, it gets easier. It is the best way to get really precise points. Just keep at it.
This is beautiful. Yesterday on Quilting with Nancy there was a lady with Quilts of Valor and you block reminds me of the quilts she was showing.
Jo Ann |
