My free fabric find

I have started doing crafts. Went to a craft show a couple of weeks ago and meet an elderly man in the booth next to mine. We got to talking, well, he did most of the talking. Any way, his wife was a sewer and she just recently past on. He wanted to know what to do with the fabric that she had, (as he didn't have any one to give it to). So of course, I said I would take it and use it. Went to get it the other day and came home with lots of fabric ($1,000-1,500). Lots of NFL, kits and panels (vests and Christmas stockings, etc) and lots of other fabric. My house now looks like a quilt store blow up in it! As I have been only able to buy small amounts at a time, a lot of my fabric is a lot less than 1/2 of a fat quarter, it feels good to be able to make big projects and have the fabric left over to do other things with.

Bless his heart! Enjoy!

If you make any charity pieces you might add a "in memory of ....." to the piece.

I am so happy for you. It's nice to see a quilter's stash passed on to someone who will love it and appreciate it just as much.

What a happy blessing on you....

It's amazing to me how sometimes the right things just seem to happen at the right time for the right person. Enjoy!

Your kindness in visiting with the man has brought blessings to both of you. And certainly his wife's memory lives on with every piece of fabric you use!

Maybe you could make him a quilt and label it "In memory of ..." for his generosity :)

To take this one step further, if you are so inclined, make a small token (maybe a wall quilt) of your appreciation for this man using some of the fabrics with an "In memory of" label on the quilt.
