Beautiful hexies. I think I would leave the sashing off. Just my opinion.

A softer, gentler sashing would be my vote if you are heartset on sashing. That red seems a bit heavy to me and steals the show. Your hexies are beautiful. How large?

And I have this idea to attach them to a 15" block then add sashing between the blocks - something like in the photo below - the fabric is only an example not what I intend using in the final product. So I am asking all the hexagon experts do you think that my idea of appliquing the large flowers onto a background block then putting sashing between the blocks will work. I am open to all suggestions and ideas as to how to go about this please. |

great hexies you doing a good job!!

Love your hexies. They are beautiful. In my opinion, if you put a sashing between them, I would make the sashing half the width you have laid out. I think going with a thinner sashing would make the flowers pop more. I feel with the wider sashing would take away from the flowers.

Beautiful blocks. Sounds like you have a plan and I think it will be wonderful.

This is a picture of one my MIL made in the 70s. I currently recreating it using pale green background and darker green trellis hexes.
This is a different setting than I've seen anywhere else and I really like it. |
OMG! I looked at your pics and thought WOW ... I have no opinion, other than, those are amazing! You are doing beautiful work!
