Thank you all for your input.

I am now going back to the drawing board and auditioning different background fabrics on which to attach them. I should have put up the fabric that I intended using as sashing rather than just grabbing the first piece that I had on hand.

The reason for using the sashing was to try and do a QAYG.

I love your blocks, they are absolutely beautiful but I think the red just looks wrong. I agree, when the blcoks are finished, just see how they look with no sashing. The blcoks are the star of this table runner.

Yes I agree I would have black background, very nice :)

beautiful hexies... and oh the patience one must have to play with all those little pieces. LOL

Whatever you decide, please post pictures when you have them assembled. They will be gorgeous no matter what you do with them.

I really like your ideas with the appliqueing the flower garden on the white background. I personally would not add a sashing, but separate each bunch of flowers with an inch or so. The red sashing detracts away from your beautiful work. Great job. Kudos to you. I do want to try my hand at Grandma's Flower Garden one day.

Last year I had several Grandmothers Flower Garden blocks that I appliqued to a long narrow pieced background so they looked like flowers, overlapping a couple, and appliqued a few leaves and embroidered some tendrils. It turned out soooooooo nice. Just an idea. Sharonve

Those are beautiful flowers. And by putting them on a white background really makes them pop.

Beautiful hexies! I agree that auditioning other backgrounds might help you decided which to use and how wide to make it. I've been working on and off on hexies for quite a while, with only a vague idea of what I wanted for a finished product. I was thinking of incorporating some into a wall hanging for spring and summer, along with a table runner of hexies. My thought is to have the hexagons along the bottom of the wall hanging (to represent a flower bed), then some bricks of vegetable prints (to represent our vegetable garden, and to incorporate a bird house somewhere. This is what I think of when I think of summer. You've inspired me to get busy on it. Thanks. I am sure that whatever you do will be really pretty.

Your 'flowers' are well done and beautiful.

I think that's a fantastic idea to showcase those beautiful blocks.
