No suggestions on what to do but I like it!

Since your blocks aren't sewn into each other yet, how about rearranging them into a diamond shape, with the dark side of four blocks in the center. The light in the center makes a quilt look like it has a hole in it. I think that would solve your problem.

I agree with Scissor Queen. No sashing.

I like your layout and coloring. Has a classic look to it.

I would add a strip of red all around, then a strip of the darker brown, then a final strip of black.

Cut a small strip of each and try it on the side where the cream is and see how you like it.

Let us see your finished product, please.

I think the sashing is too dark; JMHO!

You could always twist and turn your log cabin blocks to make a different pattern and you would not end up with the dark brown vs white on the sides. I just did 2 different log cabins, one still missing the last border, I'll try to attach them.

I would complete the existing border and then add another if you want.

I would do the same.

It's a matter of preferrence...for me, I'd add a dark brown to the cream side, then sash in a contrasting color, or even the cream...all around the top...then add a border...maybe a piano key border of the colors in the quilt. But, that's my thoughts, others have expressed theirs...each quilter will have a different answer. Try auditioning the sashing..take pics of each...print and lay them out...figure out what makes you happy.

Am I supposed to put a border around the whole quilt with a completely different fabric? or put another row of dark brown around the cream and then a border? maybe rearrange the blocks? H-E-L-P ...

Put a darker border on the lighter colored blocks, then another border around the entire quilt.
