Remind her gently that the instructor usually has some connection with the shop and her job is to SELL as well as teach. Quilters are all different personality types. She sounds like the perfectionist, bless their sweet soul. I'm semi perfectionist, meaning I self judge harshly, and I simply would love to be the wonderful carefree daring quiltist, which you sound like you are. Bless your sweet would because I hope to become as relaxed as you are!! It's nice to have a place to vent. Lov ya.

Guess your sister is a purist. She will quickly change--as soon as she gets some experience!

Aw man, it's a good thing she doesn't know me! I put a quilt top on the bed, and if it need to be a little bigger, I go to my stash, whack off a chunk-o-fabric and sew on another border row. Voila! Bigger  How's that for not following the rules?

It takes a while as we all know to find the "right" way for us with our piecing. In the meantime, allow yourself a chuckle now and then at her passion for doing it correctly! lol

I was lucky and never took lessons on quilting... learn as you go....I have sewnall my life but this IS different. My quilts are made with love and will not be judged as imperfect. They look great to the recievers of them. My family motto is GOOD ENOUGH FOR WHO ITS FOR. But done with as much expertise as I have.
Quilt Police PPPLLLLTTT!!!!!

I hate to tell you, but she may not change. I am 76, My sister is 84. She hasn't spoken to me in six years since I didn't follow her instructions and change plans we already had in order to do something she felt we should do. She was always rather domineering, but the older she got the worse it got. From what other members of the family has said she gotten any better in those six years. She lives half way across the country from me. I am the only one that no longer lives in the mid west. Some times I am very thankful for that. My church family in Illinois mean more to me. They are great people. Of course, can't see them very much, but when we do, it is like we have never been apart.
