My Yard Sale Find

2 Attachment(s)
I feel that the fabric in this quilt top is from the 50's and 60's (opinions please). It is well made and partially done by hand and partially by machine. It is placed on a full bed and is a large Lone Star Quilt pattern. I feel so lucky to have located it. It was a small yard sale and we almost didn't stop. When the lady says, "Give me a dollar and it's yours", I couldn't get my money out fast enough. There isn't a flaw in it. Here it is

Lucky you!!!!!! So glad it found a loving home!

psychonurse 05-03-2015 11:24 AM

What a find. Lucky you. I would have even given $2 if she had asked. LOL/

Cherylsea 05-03-2015 11:59 AM

Wow! What a prize! Don't you wish that it could talk and tell you it's life history?

Tartan 05-03-2015 12:19 PM

The purple/mauve flowers looks like it might be feed sacks?

Angel Bear 05-03-2015 12:24 PM

What a treasure! You must be doing a happy dance. It amazes me what people dispose of and the things they hang onto.

thyme2quilt 05-03-2015 12:24 PM

Awesome find! Don't you love it when you run across something like this? $1? Score!

Sharonquilts 05-03-2015 12:55 PM

Wow, the thread in the quilt is worth more than that! It's a shame they didn't see the value of the quilt ... but very lucky for you.

Lori S 05-03-2015 12:55 PM

What an incredible deal you got!!! Glad it found its home.

Mariposa 05-03-2015 12:59 PM

Oh my. That is beautiful. Lot of work went into that.

twinkie 05-03-2015 01:10 PM

I had thought there were feed sacks but didn't want to say that for fear of being wrong. Anyway, I knew it was old.

lynnie 05-03-2015 01:14 PM

you are so lucky, wish I had your luck, very pretty quilt top

ManiacQuilter2 05-03-2015 02:22 PM

What a wonder find. Glad it is going to find a loving home. It deserves it for being sold for a $1.

Luv Quilts and Cats 05-03-2015 02:32 PM

Grandma Bonnie 05-03-2015 03:13 PM

What a beautiful quilt ~ so happy for you for finding it!

nativetexan 05-03-2015 03:21 PM

Goodness, I'd have given her five! lovely quilt. My SIL is always trying to talk the price down from five to one dollar.

just_the_scraps_m'am 05-03-2015 03:44 PM

how lucky are you, that is an outstanding star!

BonnieI 05-03-2015 04:15 PM

I wonder why she sold it so cheap. It's so cool. Love it!

twinkie 05-03-2015 04:41 PM

When I saw it, I picked it up and she just said, "Give me a dollar and it's yours". I could not believe it. Didn't see how beautiful it was until I got it home.

Beautiful! You are one lucky gal.

adamae 05-03-2015 06:42 PM

One of the first lone star quilt tops I have seen with the scrappy look. Usually they are solids. Now, I. Love this one...not so fond of the solids. My guess is early fifties to late sixties. It's always the unexpected, isn't it? When you set out to look for a particular item, it is hard to find. You were very fortunate. Happy for you.

lfstamper 05-03-2015 06:43 PM

Lucky you! Great find!

sewbizgirl 05-03-2015 08:15 PM

Fabrics look like they are from the 30's and 40's. It's a beauty!

earthwalker 05-04-2015 01:51 AM

I was thinking 30's and 40's too. You said 'quilt top' if it is just a top it is very worth your time to quilt it and let it shine even more. Personally, I love it.

bee3 05-04-2015 03:19 AM

so many pretty fabrics in that quilt. I love the lavender with white flowers. So pretty, happy it found a good home :)

Yooper32 05-04-2015 03:24 AM

I think that the fabric is even earlier than the 40's, possibly they are from the 30's.

angelarose 05-04-2015 04:01 AM

What a beauty! You surely lucked out, congratulations. Was this machine pieced...no, no, don't tell me it was hand pieced. Was it?

What a great find!

janiesews 05-04-2015 04:42 AM

Beautiful! Look at all the work that went into that--and someone thought a $ was what it was worth. Glad you rescued it.

vicki reno 05-04-2015 04:54 AM

Lucky you! What a great find!

luvstoquilt 05-04-2015 05:23 AM

Fabric looks more like 30's or 40's to me. I agree with Tartan..could be feed sack material. It is really a beauty. Great find for you. So happy you stopped at the sale.

twinkie 05-04-2015 05:24 AM

It was partially hand pieced but mostly machine pieced.

Susanna10 05-04-2015 07:18 AM

Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sewnsewer2 05-04-2015 07:34 AM

I'm glad it landed in YOUR hands & not the landfill! I'd be so hurt if someone sold a quilt I had made.

crafty pat 05-04-2015 08:49 AM

Just beautiful. You are so lucky. The fabrics look like some feed sack fabrics my DM used in the early 40's.
