Nail polish and salt to prevent templates from slipping?
 

I'm sure this question get asked a lot, and I found lots of things through the search function.
I just got my wedding ring template and it has no friction what so ever. I put my entire weight on it... all 100 lbs of me! And the darn thing still slips when I try to cut!

It's saturday morning, so I'd like a solution that wouldn't require me to go shopping.

It sounds great! I have all required material. Have you tried it? I don't want to damage my new templates.

Sounds like a very clever idea to me.

I'm going to have to try this because some of my templates I have cut at my Hardware store (really cheap) and they slip a lot.. Thanks for the idea. Sophie

Since I have NO patience what so ever - I can report that the method worked like a charm. :thumbup: It takes some time for the nail polish to dry though so just give it some time.

I was in your same position a few months ago. I was starting to cut out a Storm at Sea quilt and did not have anymore grippies so I thought to try painters blue tape. I love it. I used small pieces folded over so sticky side to template as well as on fabric. I spaced about every 8-10 inches apart. I would replace tape after about 30 uses. LOVED IT! You have to try it. Thank you for posting this tip! I have tried dots of clear silicone caulking, but find they soon lose the grip from fabric lint. I am off to look for some clear polish...

I do the nail varnish too, on my cheaper rulers, it helps, must try the tape idea too. thanks Maureen

Thanks for this tip. I use the sandpaper dots and find they can be in my way of reading the line sometimes. My question is does it need to be course salt or regular table salt, guess I will try both ways.
