Take a look at what your quilting philosophy is. I think the best names are the ones that express that inner philosophy. Identify that and make it your own, in your own words. Above all, don't choose something that is close to other businesses wordwise and research which names will come up at the top of a search list rather than the bottom. Search for and buy your dotcom name even if starting your own website won't be the first thing.

Phyllis -
I have really enjoyed the quilt blocks painted on the barns in our area. Could you possibly use a name that would go along with those? Phyllis's Quilting Barn or something? That would give you the "country" connection. Just a thought. Darren (also in East TN) |

I'm terrible with coming up with names, but I do have a suggestion when thinking of a name.
My suggestion is to make the name show/explain what your business entails. I like to be able to know what the business is selling by their name, i.e. Granny's Quilt Shop and Supplies. Just my two cents worth. Good luck with your venture. I hope it all works out for you and your hubby. :) |

My DH also has this dream Open a fabric/quilt shop. Needs a name. I have a few ideas, have had help already with a few more, but would like other thoughts. You have gotten to know me a little bit on this board (most of you have). So keep what you know about me in mind. I want ideas on a name only. I've been in businesses before and know the risks. This is not a 100% deal yet, as we are in the beginning stages. And it may not happen. God is in control and so far He hasn't erased it from our minds, so.... Here are the clues to assist your thoughts: 1) It will be in TN, in the country vs a down town location 2) It will be more than just fabrics and quilts (just don't know yet what all will be included - I'm creative remember? 3) I also plan to have a web site 4) IF we use a name suggested here and IF we actually get to open a business/store I will acknowledge the person who suggested it. 5) My real first name is Phyllis Remember this is for name ideas only. Thanks Hope you are successful. I've always wanted to start a craft store. How about: PHYL'S FABRICRAFT? |

I agree that the internet is a huge help with finding quilting and fabric stores. The name should have both in it so when people search on the internet your name comes up.
Good luck on your store. The more quilting and fabric shops the better. |
How about: Phyl's Software (and then underneath, "Fabric & Crafts" or "Quilting Fabric & More")
Good luck in your venture!! Hope your dream comes true.... :D |

I've seen some shops that have a common "block" name. Log Cabin Quilts, Bear Paw, Bright Hopes, etc. Maybe you could mix in a block name with another suggestion.
|
Phyl's Quilting and Stuff
Phyllis's Quilting, etc. |

On of my many dreams. Luck be with you.
"Red Hair Quilting and Crafts" "The Red Headed Quilter" "Creative Red's quilt and more shop" I just love your read hair.. :-) |
And there are at least four shops named Sew Much More in Tennessee already. Many, many more in other states, too.

How about "Quilts and More" or "Quilts Etc." or "Creations You Can Do" or "Country Treasures"
|
Please don't misspell words/replace letters phonically in the name of your shop.
I am teacher and this does not help our already illiterate world. I like Quilting Grannie myself I would visit a shop named this. To me it means experienced and knowledgeable. Good Luck |
