Here is the quilt, its a dresden plate, my question to you is does this border make it too busy?
here is the border that I made but not sure of here the border is pinned on the quilt here it is with a color between it another pic of one of the plates with the border |
I like it with the color between to separate the plates from the border. It definitely tones down any busy-ness though I think it would be gorgeous either way! The whole quilt is beautiful...great work!
I really like the multi color border. I think it finishes the quilt and find my eye drawn to the Dresden plates that are framed with a solid.
your quilt is beautiful. |
I love the border. Love the quilt. Can I have it? LOL :)
Just beautiful...with just the border or the spacer fabric!
I love the multi colored border. It seems to really draw your eye to the dresden plate, but I don't care for the teal border with it. I think just the multi colored border.
sorry redquilter its already sold
Love your colors! Great quilt. I prefer it without the teal border. Congratulations on your sale!
I like it, but I would move the teal to the outside to give a more stable edge.
I love the border without the teal. It really makes it interesting.
I love the border without the teal. Maybe use the teal for binding?
Love the border without the teal. The teal is too distracting. Beautiful quilt!
I, too, like it better without the teal. Really makes the blocks pop. It is going to be beautiful.
I absolutely LOVE that combo - beautiful.
No teal, YES border.
Love, love, love the quilt! |
I love the border, but not with the teal....it just doesn't match....sorry, just my opinion
I love the striped border, I think it complements the plates and brings them out.
I also like the multi color border without the teal. Beautiful quilt!
I also love it without the teal border added. The colorful border is perfect!

I think the multi colored border is perfect, since all of your plates are already framed out I would not use the solid spacer piece I like it better without.
Just a thought try it with the solid as the outside borde. quilt, multi border, Then solid border see how that looks. |
I like the border without the teal. Beautiful quilt!
Oh, NICE!
I like the border without the teal color too. A color other than teal might work but I think it'd be good without anything else. LOVELY quilt, those colors are fantastic. |
I love the border - especially against the white with cornerstones. I don't think the teal does much for the quilt - it works, but doesn't really pop.
Cheers, K |
Wow thank you everyone. The reason I put the teal up is its in the plates and the little squares are teal. I still need to put something else on the border. I need about 5 more inches. What about some other colors from the plate?
Try the teal as the outside border or how about a white or black outside border? I just really like how the multi border looks against the white and cornerstones.
works well with color border between
I love the border. Your quilt is beautiful!
Sorry, I think it is too busy to be the outside border since it takes away from the beauty of your Dresden plates. You want them to be the star of the quilt. I would use them as a small accent with a larger outside white border. Just a thought.
I'm going to be no help and say i like it both ways...Love the multi border with and without the teal separation. Your Dresden is beautiful !!!
.....and my Mom's name is Verna...not a name you hear very often. |
I think maybe what I would do in order to extend the border, is use the striped border in-between two white borders. Maybe use the teal for the binding, since it matches the cornerstones.

I like the multi-colored border by itself. There's enough space between it and the plates that it's not too busy. Beautiful quilt!

I vote not to use the Teal. Happy you sold. Love this quilt/pretty colors.
I think that border is outstanding !
I really do like your use of the teal as a first border since it emphasizes the teal corner blocks. Then use your wonderful striped "rainbow" border. Finally, add a second teal border to make your finished quilt the size you need. I believe it will really bring out the beauty of the plates, but it will also bring out the rainbow, too. This is a definite winner in my book!!
I like it either way. The teal tones down the other colors in the striped border, but either way works! Show us when you're done, please?
I don't think the border is busy, but I prefer it without the border.
Love the quilt! and love those fabrics. |
Definitely the multi without the teal. Let us see your final design. :)
Ya know....I just went back and looked. Maybe the teal as first border would be just fine. I think the issue here is you showed such a small portion of the double border. I am sure you have already gotten started, but if you haven't, it would be nice to see a pic of a larger portion of the quilt with the two suggested borders. It is really too hard to tell. Sort of like if you were in your own sewing room trying to make the decision by looking at it from 8" away to decide! :D |
I vote for the wonderful striped border without the teal. It just seems to pull it all together.
