When I first started this thread, I didn't state how old my
son was????Never even thought about it. He is 41. I made him and his wife a quilt with shams for Christmas for 2008.
She was tickled to death, I'm sure he was too. So I thought I
would start early this year for Christmas gifts.

Thanks everyone so much for your help and ideas.

It's snowed today and I couldn't get out, to get Eleanor's
book. Almost can't wait.

Miss Kitty, Then I don't think bright children's prints would do. Maybe make it in his favorite color and go from there.

I think I'm going to use different shades of blue, with different colors of tan. Can't wait to get the book, so I can make one block, to see if I like it or not.

That sounds nice. Keep us posted on how it turns out!

miss kitty, I think tan and blue are great colors! I'm working on a log cabin too! Here's a picture of how far I've gotten.
Make sure you post a foto of the finished top!

vjengels, I think your quilt looks great, Love all the colors. I just had to make one square today. I won't be able
to get Eleanor Burns's book until later in the week. So I couldn't wait. I'm not sure about the tans I have, may need
go look for some more. I have checked what I have on hand.

I am also making a 2nd Log Cabin, using all scraps. I discovered this never-ending supply of scraps. I have worked through about half the scraps, and need to make about 20 more blocks--15" blocks.
I would say just to have fun with it. You can make it without foundation paper of foundation fabric. I didn't know that when I made the first one. It is very easy. If you need help with that, just email me at:[email protected].
I think I will just tie mine, as it gets expensive to have everything machine-quilted by someone else. I have no desire to learn machine quilting, but I think it is beautiful. I understand that most Log Cabins can be tied easily.
Good luck!

This is Marta again. I love your arrangement of 2 darks together, then 2 lights. It gives an interesting pattern!

I don't think there is anything as fun or versatile as the Log Cabin pattern. You can make so many variations! I'm collecting cat fabrics to make my next one :) The cats will be so pleased.............
