Blue. Picks up the blue in the gorgeous focal. Looks like a B Q pattern.

your butterfly fabric is gorgeous...I think it might be the pattern that isn't bringing your eye to the print...maybe a star block??? play with it...your eye will tell you....please post a pic when it's finished....

With the others your focus fabric is lovely, what a great starting point. I really think Maniac's is a great answer, if you didn't want to go black maybe one of the other colors would work. I kind of felt like the crosses buried the focus fabric, wonder if a more neutral background fabric would work. Say a very pale yellow or beige.

MaggieLou 01-25-2014 06:27 AM

What about using black with a yellow stripe? That would tone down the brightness some.

Jeannette51 01-25-2014 06:30 AM

Love the focus fabric. I vote for #3, but only because I like blues and I think it accents the butterflies more.

junegerbracht 01-25-2014 06:32 AM

I really like #1 - love the focus fabric. Do what you love!

kbeuchert 01-25-2014 06:38 AM

Wow, I am kind of surprised by the votes for #1. Doesn't really appeal to me. I like #4. Your butterfly fabric is so beautiful!

trolleystation 01-25-2014 06:43 AM

I vote for 4. It lets the focus fabric 'speak'. In the other versions the focus fabric seems overwhelmed. IMHO

Susann 01-25-2014 06:50 AM

Love, love, love #1!!!

racerh 01-25-2014 06:52 AM

I had the same thought last night - here it is!

I am going with this! The blue fabric I have matches the dark blue in the butterfly print, it is lovely!

Emma S 01-25-2014 06:55 AM

Going to be beautiful. Be sure and show us!

carolynjo 01-25-2014 06:56 AM

I vote for # 4; it doesn't seem so bright.

craftygater 01-25-2014 07:07 AM

May I ask where you bought the fabric? I would work perfect fussy cutting for the quilt I want to make for my granddaughters.

jomala1951 01-25-2014 07:12 AM

#1 ...all I see is red
#2 ...all I see is red lines
#3 ...all I see is blue
#4 ...I see your focus fabric and a pretty design

Elisabrat 01-25-2014 07:12 AM

#1 less yellow tones it down.. yellow is a color to use at 20 percent in your quilt at all times maximum because your eye sees it as a whole lot more than that already. it is a wow color .. this is what they told me in quilt class and I happen to agree on this.. a little goes a long way is the old saying.

dianeinsterling 01-25-2014 07:22 AM

i vote for # 1

benson1 01-25-2014 07:30 AM

why not black and then the butterflies would stand out

I like that so much better. However, could I make one little suggestion, that would really make it pop?
Try putting red in the little square where the crosses intersect. That would break up the yellow and
would tie in the beautiful focus fabric. I think that one change would do it.

laynak 01-25-2014 07:48 AM

I agree with Marciacp's latest post. That'd look quite nice!

kaelynangelfoot 01-25-2014 07:53 AM

I know you asked for a vote of four options, but I would propose red with a blue cross

scrapinmema 01-25-2014 08:00 AM

Love the butterfly fabric and really like #1 and #4. This would really be hard to choose.

T. 01-25-2014 08:05 AM

I vote for # 2 or # 4

Carol34446 01-25-2014 08:29 AM

Butterfly material is wonderful, how big are the blocks as planned? I like # 1 the best.

MargeD 01-25-2014 08:38 AM

What a fantastic fabric. However, since you asked, I think the yellow is too much, perhaps a very, very pale yellow or soft cream.

JudeWill 01-25-2014 08:48 AM

That's one of those fabrics that are too gorgeous to cut! That said, I would vote on the first one.

racerh 01-25-2014 08:51 AM

With the red square - like this one!

What a great idea Marcia - thanks!!!

Rebecca_S 01-25-2014 08:51 AM

I like the yellow and dark blue, I think that they have great contrast and the butterfly fabric can stand up to the contrast. Gorgeous butterfly fabric!

wildyard 01-25-2014 09:07 AM

Of the 4, I would go with #1. But have you considered the red with the blue cross? That's what I would do.

cherisews 01-25-2014 09:08 AM

Racerh, aren't we a great group of designers? :p You took several suggestions and came up with a wonderful layout! The blue/yellow/red combo looks perfect. Good luck!!

wildyard 01-25-2014 09:11 AM

Oh, I didn't read far enough, sorry. Yes the blue fabric is wonderful, but I still think the yellow overwhelms. I would go with the red or orange for the cross, or that nice cream color in the print.

Sitkaquilter 01-25-2014 09:20 AM

yellow with blue cross.....seems to balance the bright colors nicely.

nana20010 01-25-2014 09:36 AM

i like #1 but i also think if u switched #3 around to blue big yellow small but its urs so go for what makes u fell happy

roserips 01-25-2014 10:07 AM

Your focus fabric is yummy I have seen and felt it. Very nice choice of quilt design and layout to keep big blocks of focus fabric to enjoy and not loose that beautiful print. I really can not decide what fabrics would look best in the EQ version since the real fabrics might look and react different together can you take pictures?

maryb119 01-25-2014 11:18 AM

If yellow is too bright, it can make a "statement" in your quilt so my suggestion is to use orange or red in place of the yellow with royal blue as the second color in the "bars".

yel 01-25-2014 12:16 PM

i like #1 as well but would like to see it with the focus/red and blue instead of the yellow

JanieH 01-25-2014 12:49 PM

I love your fabric; it is so vibrant! And the pattern you chose will really highlight it!

Of the options you presented, I would chose #1.

ube quilting 01-25-2014 01:03 PM

I like the one on the left better and would try making the square where the yellow intersects blue or better yet orange. just to see what it would look like with that little pop of color.
peace

WMUTeach 01-25-2014 01:05 PM

I think that I like #3 with a slightly softer, less bright yellow as mentioned so many times already. No matter what you choose the focus fabric is smashing!

wolf3349 01-25-2014 01:21 PM

I like the red squares in the blue & yellow strips.

mrs theo 01-25-2014 01:26 PM

I vote for #1, I think it will be fabulous!!!
