I think #1 looks good.
I like #2. The ultimate decision is yours. Everyone has an opinion, whichever you like is the one you should do.
Vote for #1
Earlier I posted that I liked the left one better but at that time only two examples were showing. I came back to see what others were saying and there are now four views and I really like the forth one with the orange and yellow. It really show cases the beautiful butterflies.

Beautiful fabric and I believe #1 and second #4 is the best choices. Can't wait to see this finished!
No. 1, I think. The others steal too much attention away from that GORGEOUS butterfly fabric.
Yes! This latest posted version is wonderful! The blue with the yellow crosses and the red at the intersection works very nicely.
In my opinion, that beautiful fabric is being overpowered. Perhaps the softer orange with the black cross? Try it in your EQ7 and see how it looks.
Oops. Just saw the blue with yellow. That is a better combo. But would like to see the soft orange with the black. |
Number three....

Beautiful focus fabric! IMHO, #3 is the only one that "pops" the color in your focus fabric.

Gorgeous fabric! I like #1. The blue in #3 distracted me from the focus fabric altogethe.r
Number 1 or 3 would be my choices. Absolutely gorgeous focus fabric!
i like the blue too, which i guess is number 3. i'd tr to pull that out of the butterfly print.
i might try switching out the blue for the yellow, making the yellow a much smaller strip? aileen |
I like number 1!! No one color stands out... it blends more and compliments each other..
post pic when done. hugs quiltinmama |
If you would like to have the focus fabric pop, I think you need a colors which do not stand out so much, maybe even black and blue.
My vote is for #4. Even that one slightly overpowers the focus fabric but less so than the others, IMHO. I do think there might be other choices out there. Good luck with your hunt.
#2 …........... :-)
I agree with MacThayer. The butterfly fabric "pops" with the blue. I hardly notice it in 1.

What would happen if you took number one and changed one of the yellow strips in the blocks to blue.
Will be looking forward to seeing the finished butterfly quilt! Did you finish your 3-D diamond quilt that was so lovely? Would love to see it. I finished the Whispering Lace top (it is at the long-armer now!) and also finished the Placid Curves top. Trying to get up the nerve to quilt the Placid Curves one myself.......
I would love the red tonal. Not a flat red but a floral tonal or tone on tone with a floral subtle design.
Have you tried an off color like green? But beautiful fabric, I go #1
I just adore the #3 -- reminds me of a whole room full of Monarchs!! Beautiful.
I liked the 4th one...
I like #4 good luck
I think the yellow with blue cross will look the best. The blue really relates well to the focus fabric and adds definition and a touch of cool color to the design.
I love red so #1 is my choice. I do love yellow also, but it seems to be overpowering in your other choices ... IMHO LOVE the fabric!

Really love how the black brings out your focus fabric. If you're up for trying other combinations I would go for black.
i like racerh's suggestions if you want to stay all in the same value. i read or heard somewhere that changing the values in a quilt can really benefit the end result. For vibrant though i sure like the version with the blue cross with red square.
First, that fabric is amazing!! Love it. I personally like #1.
Oh, definitely #3 - the yellow with a blue cross! The blue brings the butterflies to life. The yellow fabric (although a little paler yellow would be nice) becomes a background for the butterflies. I think the red fabric used in #1 especially and also in #2, detracts from the spectacular butterflies - kind of muddies the quilt - and almost "grounds" them.
Best wishes. |
Number one but whichever you choose it will be so pretty. Just make it your own and do not worry about what others think.
just my opinion-I would go with #4 but I would change the yellow to black to go with the orange---but that is just me because I don't care for the color yellow, very few of my quilts have yellow in them, but do as you want.
Like 1!!!!!!
I agree - too much yellow. I think you need the blue to tone it down.
I like 1 and 3 - just my opinion
I vote for #1 i think the others are too busy
I like the first one the best....the fabric is gorgeous!!!
