Call me crazy, I would do both, I think it looks great the way the orange and brown blend, then would use a multicolor binding, using all three in the binding. But again that is just me. I think for a baby it would be different and something that would attract.

I agree.

I was told to always use the color that was used the least. It will make the quilt pop.

Mkotch 02-09-2011 05:36 AM

Pick up the blue in the blocks. This quilt doesn't have to be too big as babies aren't that big!

mrs theo 02-09-2011 05:37 AM

Definitely the orange, it makes the whole quilt really bright and cheerful :)

karenpatrick 02-09-2011 06:13 AM

I agree with Scissor Queen. You need a small something to separate the quilt from the border. A narrow blue border 1" to 1 1/2" would be perfect and then the orange. Your border should be divisible by your block i.e. if your block is 6" your border should be 2" or 3". If our block is 12", your border should be 3", 4" or 6". You get the idea.

Michellesews 02-09-2011 06:13 AM

I think whatever you do, will be stunning....and loved. I can't wait to see the finished product! Love the inspector, as well....lol.

Orange for sure! I like the idea of a small blue with the orange, then brown binding.

jad1044 02-09-2011 06:25 AM

Looks like she is taking a very close look at the work - good job inspector!!!! :)

Very pretty quilt - I'd go with orange for the border

I agree. Thats what I would do.

I like the brown. Remember that a child cannot identify colors until taught. If you have ever given a child a box of crayons before they learn colors, they invariably will pick out the darker colors.

I agree!

I agree=use both colors on opposite sides~~

My vote is for the orange, makes the blocks look like they are floating. And bright is just right. Then bind it in brown or blue. Fun and great pattern for the new little one.

quiltqueen61 02-09-2011 07:41 AM

ditto on the orange border and brown for the binding.

betlinsmom 02-09-2011 07:55 AM

Orange, I think, and I love your fur baby/inspector!!!

SewMamaw 02-09-2011 08:14 AM

I like the orange best.

Mamacat 02-09-2011 08:31 AM

I think you need the blue border (to really make it pop)first, then the orange and I would have brown on the outside because that is where it will be handled the most and the brown will not show dirt etc.

Dina 02-09-2011 08:35 AM

Beautiful quilt and quilt inspector.

MadP 02-09-2011 08:38 AM

I liked the idea of a tiny blue border before the orange then bind in brown.

Jean Fry 02-09-2011 08:39 AM

I like the orange.

BeckiQuilts 02-09-2011 08:55 AM

I really like multiple borders. I say try them both, a little smaller than you normally would. I would even add another color from the quilt. Lucky baby!

Lyncat 02-09-2011 09:34 AM

You've had plenty of advice, so I'll just tell you I really like your quilt top!

I agree with this. The blue would just be a reminder of what is in the quilt.

penski 02-09-2011 10:32 AM

orange

starshine 02-09-2011 10:38 AM

I think maybe the border blue and binding orange.

I agree :-)

I also agree- add some of the blue fabric in the border.

Orange for a baby.

DeeBooper 02-09-2011 01:19 PM

I think I would finish it up and give it your cat instead. He/she loves it! It is very pretty.

Sallyjane 02-09-2011 01:22 PM

I agree. Either the brown or the orange blend into the quilt. I think you need a different border to seperate it. Blue would be very appealing! Blue and orange are opposites on the color wheel (what's that called?) and blue mixed with orange make brown, so blue would be perfect! How's that for logic!?!?

She loves every one. She acts as my quality inspector-if she doesn't like it, there must be something wrong with it.

Tinabodina 02-09-2011 01:40 PM

Orange for sure and binding should be brown. I love your little one checking it out!

Dear One 5 02-09-2011 02:28 PM

I like the orange and brown borders with the blue binding, great colors for a child.

Isn't it fun to play with different colors?

ktmo815 02-09-2011 02:37 PM

orange

Heartwarming quilts 02-09-2011 02:38 PM

This is what I think too. The orange is brighter and the brown binding will frame it nicely. Love your inspector!
