I also vote for the orange.

barbb baumgardner 02-09-2011 03:50 PM

I say 3-4 " orange border and then a 2" brown border with a brown binding.

To make the quilt blend I go along with what SQ says.

I like the orange and I especially like your quilt :)

Minnisewta 02-09-2011 04:19 PM

That is what I was going to say- a narrow brown border, maybe one and a half-two inches, then a wider orange one and a brown binding.

Anna.425 02-09-2011 04:51 PM

I'm a big fan of double borders. I would probably do an inside border in a lighter color and then a darker outside border. If you only do one border I would go lighter so that there is something that balances out the orange and brown.

Sounds good

Annaleehunter 02-09-2011 05:14 PM

Love the brown! It really sets off the quilt.

yes! Exactly!

gal288 02-09-2011 05:18 PM

Well, now we have totally confused you, I think a 1" blue border and then the print, binding it in orange. Now, sleep well tonight, and tomorrow with a clear head, maybe you can make your decision. By the way, what is the back?

wildyard 02-09-2011 05:25 PM

I am liking the idea of using the blue myself.

huggabug123 02-09-2011 05:40 PM

I also suggest adding a small bit of blue and then adding on an orange or brown border. Either way, the baby is going to enjoy snuggling in their quilt. Great job on the quilt.

SusanL 02-09-2011 05:44 PM

I agree with dungeon quilter. Switch the brown with the orange and I'd add blue squares in the corners.
Love the orange!!!!

Lucy90 02-09-2011 05:47 PM

I would go with a small border of blue then orange. I think the small blue border would finish it off better then have a nice orange border.

I agree.

I think I would use a narrow blue border and then a slightly wider orange border and bind with the print.Since it is for a baby, I don't think I would add any more brown. That would leave the brown as an accent color.

My vote too! The print binding would soften the border and pull it together. Nice choices for a baby!

zaza 02-09-2011 06:35 PM

I would do an orange border then bind in brown. I like the binding to be of a darker color as it tends to get dirty quicker. I have a new affection for orange, so, I reallky like your quilt.

I think belmer has the right idea.

IBQUILTIN 02-09-2011 06:40 PM

great quilt

quilterfly 02-09-2011 06:48 PM

A narrow orange border & a wider brown border with blue cornerstones and brown binding to finish it off.

I like this idea. Keeps it a little lighter or softer for a baby.

ajohn52 02-09-2011 07:12 PM

I agree

KSue 02-09-2011 07:21 PM

I like the orange border.

Perfect idea - would be lovely!

Pat-w 02-09-2011 08:26 PM

I like KarenK's idea. Brown top and bottom and orange on the sides. Add a blue square on each corner to continue the diagonal flow across the quilt. Then blue? for binding. Love what you've got so far....colors and pattern! Please post a photo when you've finished it.

LadyCougar 02-09-2011 08:31 PM

Have you thought of using the blue? the orange is nice.

LOL...that was my first thought also! I think it would great that way...

grammysharon 02-09-2011 11:03 PM

I would go for brown border and orange binding. Just me!

Orange with a blue binding.

Bjbaxter 02-09-2011 11:57 PM

I'd want to use some blue in the border, at least a narrow inner border.

I was thinking along similar lines, but I would leave the Orange on Orange and Brown on Brown with the mitre, then it looks like the main body bleeds into the borders just softening it a little. Not sure about binding, what are you using for the backing?
