I have never done this type of quilt - but all the information was very interesting to read. It sure helped a lot in the color layout.

I think you'll get pretty decent results with your latest layout.
I don't have any photos of the uncut strips handy, but this is a bargello fabric I made last month for a bag. the batch "started" at the brown, and went to the left. |
I think the amount of yellow is fine... it's your "sparkle" and you don't want to over-do a good thing.
I too would go shopping but replace #8 -OR- #9 with something between 8/9 and #5, so to create more of a gradual blend. It will be lovely! Good luck. |

Here are your fabric arrangements so far. I think the 3rd is the best. |
great idea!! B&W
but still too much of a jump between 8 and 5 in the last photo. |
Really pretty fabric choices!
If it were up to me, I would look for a fabric to go between 8 & 5 as has already been mentioned and also one to put between 4 & 7 as that is a big jump in brightness. In addition I would consider replacing #6 as on my screen anyway it seems to be a different blue from the rest (more hinting at aqua). Can't wait to see how this comes out! I know it will be lovely. |

Can you give me an idea of what to replace it with? Another yellow maybe since there are so many blues? |
Nix that. I would try to find a color between 8 & 5 as well, just to blend it a bit more.

I like the 2nd color layout (which is the third photo) the best. It will make an awesome quilt.
