The grey bar on the right is your lever to lift your foot, correct? Right next to that is a silver bar that is sitting BELOW the screw that holds your needle, correct? If I am seeing your picture correct as above you need to put the silver bar ON TOP of the screw that holds your needle. That part is what makes your walking foot, 'walk'. I know it seems odd, but check it out and you shall be surprised. To put it on correct, lift the pressure foot so the grey bar is out of the way before you finagle the silver bar over the screw, then screw down the walking foot. The grey bar should not sit on top of the walking foot, but next to it.

I agree I have a brother se 350 and I bought my walking foot at jo-anns with 50% off coupon I paid $7.50 and it works great on my machine. I figure if it does break I can afford to buy another one. and the fork has't to go over the the screw arm that holds your needle in. works great.

so the fork has to go on top of the screw that holds the needle in? If that's the case then that may be my problem. It just seemed so logical that the forked part would go right on the screw itself not above it but I have very little experience sewing which is why i asked the experts here on this forum. Thanks I'll buy another one at jo-anns and see if that helps. BTW mine is a low shank machine.

I think CoyoteQuilts is right. I have a Viking and a Kenmore and both have that little silver metal bar that goes above the screw.

Your drop lever still looks real close to the walking foot , Is it ?

It goes OVER (above) the screw as in the first picture, not surrounding the screw as in the second (which is the way it looks like it should!)

yes it still gets hooked on the top of the foot

that lever or bar has to go on top of the screw that holds in your needle. so when the needle and shaft move up and down, the walking foot will work correctly.

ah the pics of the new foot works fine. the forked thing goes on the screw and away you go. great!
