Hi again just broke my second walking foot the only thing I can think of is the lever that raises and lowers the foot rests on top of the walking foot sometimes when I stop and start it has to be moved out of the way before i can begin sewing again. Here is a picture. Is it supposed to sit there like that? If not is there a remedy here?

That sure doesn't look right to me. Are you sure this is the right foot for your machine.

I suggest consulting a dealer of the foot about the problem. I do't understand the reason that "it has to be moved aside" before it will work......I don't believe I have ever heard of a walking foot breaking. Do you have a machine dealer close by that you can take it in to. What machine do yu have and is it a machine specific walking foot.

Doesn't look right to me either. The lever should always be out of the way of the walking foot . And maybe I missed it but I didn't see the bar that attaches to the screw for the walking foot. Does that make sense ?

I am with Littlehud, Are you sure it is the right one for your machine. Right brand and if it is a straight needle or a slant needle machine will also make a difference.

Those are not cheep so I'd double check before trying another one... Good luck

I just don't see how that can be the correct walking foot for your machine. The presser foot lever should not be interfering at all with the walking foot. You may have a machine that does not do well with a generic walking foot, in which case you will need to get a walking foot made specifically for your machine.

It would help if we knew make and model of yur machine. If you can, step back a bit and get a couple more pics from a couple of angles.
You can also ask Charlee or Billy who are fairly knowledgeable on machines.

It's a brother vx 1120 yes they were both generic walking feet. The closest sewing machine shop is about 1 1/2 hour drive. The lever is attached to the needle screw like its supposed to be. I should try taking it to a dealer. Thanks everybody.

From the walking feet I've seen, the lever on the right by the screw, usually sits on top of the screw. Or they have the kind with the end that looks like a fork that goes onto the screw shaft.

That doesn't look right at all to me. I know with my Janome I cannot use a thumb screw in order to attach the walking foot to the shank. I have to use a regular screw as the thumb screw hits the walking foot.

I ended up finding a generic low shank walking foot at Joann's that I have no problem with. My one for the Janome cost $33.00, the generic was only $15.00 plus if you use a 40% off coupon, it brings it down to under $10.00. But again, this is for a low shank and I can't see what yours is.
