I'd use something between the light and dark blue, although the green would work as well. I'd use a blue varigated thread. If you use green on the back, then for the bottom thread, use a coordinating green for that.

Oh, I'm so glad you posted this! It's beautiful! And I chose these fabrics for a stand-mixer cover for my mom and I'm glad they're as pretty as I thought they would be. As to your backing question, if you want to keep it "quiet", I would go with either the fabrics with the little squares or even the solid-types with the swirls. Either one of them would have enough pattern to hide any FMQ goofs. That being said, the fabrics with the smaller flowers would be lovely too.

Your quilt is so pretty. What ever you pick will do good. You have very good taste. Sorry for the weather you are all having. We have a drought here in Arizona and we are already worrying about forest fires this summer. Can't win on the weather is seems.

Thanks for posting the picture of your pretty quilt. Brightened my day here in Iowa where our weather is the same as yours. My preference is for contrast on the back. If a corner gets flipped, it makes the front "shine". One of the lighter greens or blues would be very pretty, and if you use a thread that blends your quilting will look good too.

Beautiful quilt & colors. I vote for the border fabric for the backing fabric also!

i think the lavender would work well, or even the darker purple of the center of the flowers

Beautiful quilt!
I'm so glad you didn't lose power! I remember growing up on the farm in Central MN and being snowed in. My dad used to plow the gravel road to get it open to the county road that was tarred so we could go to school. :) Of course, this was before satellite TV, cell phones, internet, etc, so when we were snowed in, I did a lot of reading, some sewing, and probably a bunch of arguing with my siblings. :) Connie |
I think a purple back with the green for binding would look so rich and compliment the top just perfectly. The feather quilting would look gorgeous on purple.

Your top is beautiful. Good thing that you had power. I have the hardest time deciding on backing. Sometimes I have several quilts finished that just need backing.
