When I took my very first quilting class so long ago, we were told that the backing should not be darker than the lightest color on the front owing to bleed through. If your batting is heavier, audition a darker color and see if it shows from the top of the quilt.

I like the off center strip that you appliqued. That color would be a nice backing, especially with your appliques you could jazz it up just a little bit
