Don't make any thing for them. Instead go to the quilt store and pick us some of the new fabric fat quarters for them. Nothing is better for a quilter than a set of new Fat quarters. This is what my husband would do and I always looked forward to the gifts. The ladies at the Quilt store would put the collections together for him and this year when I stoped by the shop they asked me where he was and I let them know that he had passed away. They told me the stories of him comming in and having them pick out the new fabric collections for me. They will miss him too.
Try this for a quilter on your list. |
Jarenie,
I am so sorry to hear of your DH passing. Oh, what a sweet memory they gave you from him this year. Blessings, Peggy |
How about IOU's and give them a choice of what they want.

The 10 minute table runners are great! Easy and quick. How about the bread liners to make? Those are just plain easy peasy.

Here is a really quick and simple gift idea - cinnamon sugar recipe - so simple and a really nice homemade gift. Cinnamon sugar is used on buttered toast in the morning just sprinkle it on. It's also makes oatmeal taste great or you can use in your morning coffee.
Recipe for cinnamon sugar: 1 cup sugar 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon Just mix them together and put them in a small jar. glue fabic on the cap and add a stick of cinnamon and a ribbon or twine to the outside for decoration. Hope you like it as much as my family does. |

* sprinkle on popcorn! * baked apples ... or for one, just slice an apple, sprinkle with a little water and the cinnamon sugar, then microwave! |

Last minute gifts
I make ditty bags / travel bags.
Do a quilt sandwich (fabric-batting-fabric). Edge finish (serge) around all 4 sides. Add zipper (or velcro) to opposite edges on 2 sides - this produces a tube. Stitch remaining 2 edges/ends closed. Turn right side out. Add ribbon length to zipper pull or add decorative pull. Size is totally flexible and I vary mine according to what I find in my scrap box but try to have the rectangle sides = zipper length. I use mine for (1)shopping day(s) (to keep my stuff organized - coupons, fabric samples, reading glasses, note pad, etc. - without filling my purse with loose papers) and for (2) traveling (to keep my reading material - magazine(s), map, etc.) |
