I put my spools and the corresponding bobbin in a 2" x 3" zip bag. They don't get tangled and I don't have to look for a bobbin that goes with the thread. Then I keep the 'warm' colors in one plastic bin, the 'cool' colors in another.

The best bobbin keeper I have found is the rubber tower one that I know you can buy from Nancy's Notions. It is coloured green and lime green.

I use an ice cube tray - 2 bobbins per "cube" and I can see all of the colors and grab instantly without undoing anything - LOVE IT!

I tried several methods then was at my local quilt shop. they have these bobbin holders that look like doughnuts with a larger center hole. You simply put the bobbin into the outer shell and they stay put. Place the free thread side down and they stay untangled until you pull them out to use. I absolutely love these things. They are made of rubber and cost about 7$ each. Great idea. I wish I had thought of it.

I used to use the small hair things that stretch but I have found that the conatainers that hold test strips for sugar are idea. I can get 4 to 5 in ;one and just do up several colors and mark the container. I do not have to staop to rewind bobbins this way.

I got 300 of the tiny hair bands at my local Dollar Store-of course, they were only a dollar! Could go to WM & get 200 for $3-if I wanted to spend more. :)

I use the tiny childrens hair bands? They are stretchy/terry. You can get a huge amount of them at walmart for 2 or 3 dollars.[/quote]

I use these too.

I use Handi Bobs from Clotilde. Here's the link...

then I store the thread / bobbin combo in these boxes..

Love that I can just pick up the box and head out to a workshop and not have to think about what color thread to bring in advance - just grab and go!

I love them too. I bought one at a quilt show and got another one at a shop a while ago . I fill about ten of white and cream bobbins and put them in one and the other one I have color thread. I often spilled my bobbin box and they would go all over. Now you can drop them and they stay put. It's a really great gadget.

After reading these postings, I ordered the bobbin savers combo from Nancy's Notions. I have 3 now, one for embroidery bobbins, one for sewing bobbins, and one for quilting bobbins. When my new bobbin savers come, the first one will be for my Singer 221 bobbins. I love the bobbin savers and the three I have are filled so I'll be using the new ones, especially for extra sewing bobbins.
