If you want to clip a stay thread sticking up from the surface of your quilt, or the backing, these are invaluable as they cut horizontally and you are not in danger of cutting your underlying fabric as easily as if you use regular scissors. I wish I had more than one pr. as I am always on the hunt for them .. should hang them around my neck.
