I don't have the stitch cam for the blanket stitch so I use a stitch similar to #11. Works fine for me.

Try them out on a sample and see which one you like the best. You may even like to do a small satin stitch or the one stitch on and one stitch off the applique, use an open toed foot so that you can see where your machine is stitching more easily.

I would try several to see what is best for you. I have used the zigzag with short stitches to make it a satin stitch and I have use a short straight stitch. Put paper underneath it and tear it away when you are done, that helps the fabric not pucker.

I use the blanket stitch (19) or sometimes if I am using invisible thread I just use zigzag. You can lengthen or shorten and widen both of these stitches. Before you do anything try and applique on a scrap. Then you can figure out the setup :lol:

I would fuse some scraps of fabric to a practice piece and audition a few of the stitches from my machine. You can even audition the length of the stitch that way.

I agree with 19 or 39, probably 39. I did a machine applique workshop with Michele Hill at Barrossa Quilt Shop here in Sth Aust. she is a William Morris expert (her work is beautiful and she has a couple of published books) she uses a Pfaff machine, I have a Janome, and the stitch she advised looks like your 39. Stitch settings were Pressure - 2, Length - 2.00, Width 2.00. If I remember rightly I think I made the sitches a bit bigger for larger pieces. It took a fair bit of practice and personally I use Satin Stitch more often and especially when there is a lot of small pieces, I find it easier to manipulate. I love hand applique also. It makes a diff when the tips/help comes from quilters who have done applique.I do watch the videos, but don't hear so good,which means your
help on here works better for me.Thanks for taking time to post.Next is reading up on stabilizers & how best to anchor fabric before machine stitching.

#19 looks good ,I would practice on scrap fabric first.
I also use a light tear away stabilizer under the fabric so it doed not pucker. Happy sewing!!!
