Beautiful block, looking forward to seeing the quilt.

That is going to make a very nice quilt. Love the secondary pattern.

IMHO it belongs to you and is a real winner!

It is a great block. Now put the date on it. I would also add a copyright to it. Are you thinking of writing a pattern for it? That is when it gets copyright. Enjoy the process! Luann in CT

DEFINITELY! what Luann in CT said...

Love it-get your name on it and copyright it-then send it to Quilt books-it's a winner

I quit sharing creative endeavours even on this board. It is sad to say people get greedy. I have been asked to do several original patterns and didn't finish them yet. Please protected your propriety, protect yourself, don't share until you havered.e it cov

I wasn't saying that she didn't need to copyright it. She does. You said "Of course, now that you have posted the block for the entire world to see, your odds of success in defending a copyright for the block itself are somewhere between slim and none". I was just saying that this shows that she made this pattern prior to posting it on here. Why would her odds for defending a copyright be slim to none?

The only way to legally defend against copyright infringement is to register the work with the copyright office before the infringement takes place. It does no good to register after someone steals your idea and/or registers it as their own.

The answer to your questions is in the post directly above yours. :)
