For those worried about leaving a chemical in the fabric, the ink in these pens is acid free and archival quality (though the people at pilot thought I was crazy for asking that- they highly do not recommend using them for archiving, due to the ink disappearing at high temperatures- not good for long term storage, where it might disappear)

The chemicals will not harm fabric. And, it washes out anyway, so it is really only a concern if you aren't washing it.

The temperature is below freezing here at night already. I just shipped a quilt to my sister. If I had used this pen to mark the top, it is possible the lines would appear in shipping.

I just discovered a disappearing fabric marker at Michael's for about $3.00. It goes on purple and disappears after about 48 hours. I think it is the greatest thing since peanut butter, but have only used it on cotton doll faces and seam markings for clothes so far. On quilts I usually use soap slivers.

I've never questioned the 'Pilot' brand since I've had no problem but wondering what the Pilot company would say!

During the coldest part of winter, I would say my quilts freeze every night!!! That happens when there is no heat in the room, and you can't afford to run portable heaters.

I got mine at an office supply store. Can't remember if it was office depot or staples.

You can purchase them at Staples. Ours only had black, blue and red.

You can get them at LQS's as well.

I have used them quite a bit and LOVE them!

I bought one and loved it - marked all my squares --- ironed my first seam and my markings disappeared! Had to remark. Also heard not to get it cold as the marks reappear!

When I saw them on this board, I ran to Staples & got some. They work great, but some times I forget the ink disappears when you iron the fabric.
