You need the oil filled radiator heater. It heats a big room, cost pennies to use, and very safe. Before the central heat was installed in our lower floor, I used one to heat two big rooms. It worked great. And the heater isn't an eyesore in the room. I bought these heaters one year for my kids. Both were on a budget and these heaters really cut their heating bills. They still use them. The more efficient ones will cost about twice the price, that's the reason for the price difference. I've seen them at Walmart, Target for about $40. It will save money to get the better one for $80 or more.

This is one of those things that makes me a little upset. I bought this set of 4 colors (red, blue, black, green) in a package for $5.99 at Staples. Some LQS are doing the same thing then selling them individually for $3 each.
If you go to a Discount Auto you can buy a pen sized telescoping magnetic tool (pin picker-upper) for 99¢. One of the notions companies has packaged it and sells it for $6.99. The same with mechanics' magnetic dishes for nuts and bolts.....now they are pin cups at a 100% plus markup.
My suggestion is if they want us to pay the increases in fabric costs then stop trying to empty our wallets by cheating the customer. At least, it's cheating to me.

Sounds like you could write a hidden message with one of the pens...Imagine....make a patchwork scarf for a child off on their own...it gets cold, suddenly a message appears on the scarf...."Wait, think, what would your mother say about this?"....Or maybe on a quilt.."Who loves you baby...Mom does" I think the fact that is appears in the cold could be used for added fun. As for quilts, mostly they are in the house where it is usually warm. I do not store many quilts in the freezer but if I do and the marks come back maybe a trip to the dryer or ironing board would teach it a lesson. I have these pens and use them with the same care as I would any other tool.

Getting ideas as well. Clues for a treasure hunt, that the hero makes disappear by ironing them. Wonder if this works on paper too.

I love the Frixion pens...have used them with quilts and regular sewing of dresses and pants (marking darts and notches). No problems and they are so much cheaper at the Office Supply Store!

We had a thread on this already. The pens are made by Pilot, they also have highlighters that erase. Both were made for students....now quilters and sewers have discovered them. I use them for tracing my redwork.
Heat erases the lines, cold (in frig or freezer) will bring them back. If you use an iron on the piece, then wash it before drying in dryer, the marks will be gone for good.
You can purcahse these at Staples, Walgreens for much less than LQS. They come in red, blue, green, black, purple and orange. Watch for them each year during back to school time. I bought them at 50% off plus a $4.50 rebate at Walgreens during back to school....so they were about .75 each.
