I'd love to see a show that followed a charity quilt (for kids, for soldiers, etc.) from the shopping stage all the way to the end.

You'd meet the quilter(s), see the whole process of picking fabrics/patterns, etc - learn a little about them, and when it's finished, you'd also meet the recipient(s) and see their story, why they are getting the quilt, and so on.

This was put out as a joke, but there are some wonderful ideas from the creative minds of quilters. Netflix now makes their own movies and series...why not for quilters!

tessagin 07-26-2013 04:31 AM

Sure beats spousal swaps and bachelor and bachelorette crap. Family fights and such. my favorites are the Mountain Men, Life Below Zero, North Woods Law and yes Swamp People. I really do wish they'd bring back the craft shows and needle work and quilting shows also. Besides the ones that we only can get on Saturday mornings. I guess those aren't raunchy enough. BTW I'm not a prude.

Love everyone's ideas. When will it air?

Any other ideas here?

I love all of the ideas posted. Right now I'm gleefully envisioning the bloodshed (hopefully computer generated - can't mess up the fabric!!) when a professional organizer tries to get a quilter to reduce her stash o:))). Or even better when that person decides quilter's stashes don't constitute a hoard and is last seen wallowing in a pile of fabric. Not that I've ever wallowed (yeah right!!) but a friend of mine at a quilt show kept her fabric bags in bed with her so she could pet them at night. Oh my.

GammaLou 07-26-2013 06:05 AM

My husband is always saying 'cute' things like: "Quilters, start your machines", "Quilters of the world, unite!" and other such things. Might be a good way to start the show. LOL

happy grandma 07-26-2013 06:20 AM

This was the perfect way to start my day. Thanks for the laughs and giggles. I do agree these ideas would make some great TV watching.

JudeWill 07-26-2013 06:26 AM

I think that's a winner! It would make more sense than a lot of those that are on the air! And a lot more fun to watch! Maybe you should drop a line to the networks.

gmcsewer 07-26-2013 06:26 AM

I think it was Quilts of Valor that had a show like this. They were to be RWB and any pattern you wanted and had a deadline to finish. They went around and interviewed the women as they sewed and I think they had a show and tell at different intervals to show how each one was doing. In fact, I think they had a team of two working on each quilt. It was fun to watch as each group wanted to finish first.

DonnaC 07-26-2013 06:33 AM

OMG "Night of the Ripper" cracked me up! I love some of these ideas; they would have been great on the DIY network, years ago when it used to be a worthwhile channel to watch. Now it's cr*p.

LOVE this idea. I would watch this!

sewmerry 07-26-2013 07:26 AM

I love all these great ideas! It would make me furious if someone went through my stash and decided which I would keep and which to discard!!!!! That happened to my stash several years ago and I am still looking for that fantastic piece bought at a fantastic bargain, never get so out of it you don't know what is happening to your stash!!

lillybeck 07-26-2013 07:29 AM

Great idea. Now if I could only get to my stash.

donna13350 07-26-2013 07:33 AM

It could be like the antique shows where they put a dollar value on items..they could appraise machines, thread fabric...and we all could watch and drool! Or they could do sewing room makeovers..that would be cool!

Clarice29 07-26-2013 10:12 AM

I can't wait!

chris_quilts 07-26-2013 10:30 AM

We could do "Whose stash is it anyway?" as a title takeoff from from "Whose line is it?" and use a interview format like with the old Bachelor show where they had 3 bachelors or bachelorettes that were interviewed and then one of the 3 got a date with the interviewer. Except, the interviewer would have to guess which stash went with which quilter. The interviewer would also be a quilter and would receive a prize (gift card for more fabric for their stash??) for guessing correctly all three quilters' stashes.

Diana Lea 07-26-2013 11:06 AM

Don't forget how many fingers can you sew together?

JanieH 07-26-2013 11:52 AM

Love this idea - I would definitely watch!!

teddy300 07-26-2013 01:58 PM

I love the idea of Quilt Room: Impossible and someone with $10,000 to come in are revamp!

applique 07-26-2013 02:29 PM

Stash in hiding. Where and how quilters hide their stash purchases!

Also a discussion on appraisals, documentation and insurance.

bearisgray 07-26-2013 02:44 PM

a hundred ways to mess up the quilt!
how to get your machine out of timing!
50 ways to hurt yourself!

Sideways 07-26-2013 03:27 PM

I would be really upset if some professional organizer came into my house and told me that my material obsession and my vintage machine obsession needed to be downsized. Really now!!!!! I would tell them not to let the door hit them in the behind when they leave for sure!!!! Hahahaha

Emma S 07-26-2013 03:43 PM

Great thread! Some of you probably remember the QB thread about the hoarder show about the quilter. There were dozens of responses exchanging information about airings. Then feedback about opinions of the "hoarders" stash. As I recall the concensus was that she didn't have too much fabric she just needed to organize it. Sound familiar? Wish I could remember the name of the thread. Thanks everyone for the laugh.

jeanharville 07-26-2013 03:51 PM

Instead of Project Runway, how 'bout Project Coverup and it would be quilters showing their quilts competing for fabulous prizes: everything from free patterns to sewing room makeovers. Everyone wins a gift.

America's funniest Quilting Bees and Bloopers...

"Not that I've ever wallowed (yeah right!!) but a friend of mine at a quilt show kept her fabric bags in bed with her so she could pet them at night. Oh my."

Could this be an episode of My Strange Addiction?

Well, if they feature her, they might also look for those of us with a sewing machine herd, err collection, to co-feature. They could say it was featuring 2 very similar addictions.

America's funniest Quilting Bees and Bloopers...

And the finalists have a month or two to finish a quilt. The winning quilt enteres into one of the big shows such as Paducah or Houston. The hell with watching, I 'd like to compete in that one.

sewhat540 07-27-2013 12:01 AM

how right you are and I am going to do the same. This will be buy one and get two and no ads.

cherrio 07-27-2013 04:59 AM

"It would make me furious if someone went through my stash and decided which I would keep and which to discard!!!!!" My daughter, who was a non quilter at the time, did this to me and I cried the whole time she was cleaning it out. But the good news is it was Polyester fabric she got rid of. (In those days I could buy 4 yards for less than $10 to make a dress and I used to see lots of gorgeous fabric) So, in the long run, she did me a favor, haha. Made more room for quilting fabric that I started buying in later years and the polyester was donated to someone who made lap robes for a nursing home. My daughter has now made quilts and came to 'raid my stash' for the first one or two quilts she made! I have chuckled at some of the ideas presented and loved reading this thread!

At last, some TV worth watching! Count me in!

bearisgray 07-27-2013 08:23 AM

Explanations for "why I bought more fabric (to add to the two tons already in the house"

and/or "why I bought another sewing machine (to add to the twenty that aren't being used already"

and/or "honey, this was SUCH a bargain!"

I think we've already seen and heard those explanations, though! LOL

Caswews 07-27-2013 09:12 AM

LOL I'd watch that reality show (as I don't watch them now). IT would be a hoot!

junipergal 07-27-2013 09:43 AM

Honey Piece Piece
