I am a newbe. I started quilting in 2009. Retired from my job and started to enjoy life of quilting.

Started about 15 years ago, made one quilt which took two years to stitch by hand and have just started another which won't take so long,

12 years for me. Hated sewing in school and didn't start quilting until I wanted one bad enough and didn't want to pay the price.

I made my first quilt in July of 2000! I was 51 years old. That summer I made and hand quilted three quilts for my kids for Christmas. I finished my last one on 12/22/2000. Talk about a close call! Whew! Oh, and my first quilt was a Dresden Plate. My m-i-l told me I should tackle a much easier one, like a four patch, but I was too stubborn to let that Dresden whup me. It is a bit crooked and the centers of the plates are all different sizes, and I stunk at applique, but I got er done!!
So, I guess I've only been at it for 11 years.
